I do not think that playing either one will make much of a difference this season in the W-L column (hence why I answered "no"), but I think that playing Leinart is the right decision so he can progress and hopefully by giving him experience this will be a better team by the end of this year and going into next year.

In addition to "Yes" and "No" should be a button for "How the hell should I know?"

Since when have any of us been good prognosticators? There are plenty of other factors that influence the outcome of ballgames.

The most that can be said is, that on paper, we give up experience and more knowledgeable reading of defenses and gain more physical mobility and zip. (I also view the "error-factor" as a wash, comparing KW's recent record of miscues with the tendency of rooks to make mistakes).

Bottom line - I don't think either QB will be the key factor determing the outcome of games. That still falls on the shoulders of our offensive blockers.

That said, if the two QB's are that close, why not give Matt game experience earlier rather than later?

The bad news: Leinart is going to make rookie mistakes.
The good news: He's a rookie.

Warner
The bad news: Warner has been making rookie mistakes.
The good news: Making rookie mistakes makes him seem younger.

Edge: Leinart.

As long as I don't bet money I'm almost never wrong. Bet some cash and :thud:

Someone doesn't like for me to gamble.

If Matt throws half the int's that Kurt threw or just fumbled half the time Kurt did we have a better chance to win no question. We may not win another game this year, but we will definetely have a better chance at winning simply by eliminating mistakes.

Better off now? Maybe - if Leinart can get the ball off a bit faster than Warner. And the O-Line holds for a bit longer. Don't forget that Edge & our running game has to improve. That's a lot of things to happen, so I'd say no.

Better off later? If Leinart doesn't get that "Cards" attitude (and you all know what I'm talking about), doesn't get injured. So yes, we will be better off later.

I feel that as of right now, the season is a write off. We play KC on Sunday, Bears then, we will probably be looking at 1-5 by then.

No more kard's kool-aid for me, thanks. I'm full.

If Warner had fumbled one less time we wouldn't be talking about this.

3-11?
That's old school...
I have been STUNNED by KW's bad decision making on the field - trying to jam it downfield into double coverage instead of dumping it off to Edge who no defender within 5 yds of him...
KW's holding the ball out like a serving tray as defenders bear down on his slow azz.
The fumbling...
I hope Lienert doesn't get killed...

I hope we keep Warner on the team for this and next season. He is a class act and will be an excellent mentor and backup for Leinart. I'm not sure what the cap hit will be if we let him go at the end of the season.

Gotta agree with that...besides without KW as Leinart's backup...who will we end up with? Navarre?:barf:

I assumed you were thinking we were wrong for insinuating that Leinart might be better for Warner.

Not at all. Matter of fact I think he should have satarted the season. Im not a fan of having a quality kid holding a clip board for two to three years. Id much rather get them in there and learn. Yes they will take some lumps. But Ya look at Manning, either of them. Bledsoe and ect.

Now look at how many good young qb's have been drafted and wasted away on the side lines. THey sign big contracts and do nuthing for four years then they are realeased and they sign with another team or fade into oblivion. I say get there butts out there and earn the job.

Especially after his agent held the Cards hostage and made him miss so much time in camp.

The ideal was Matt doesn't have to play all year, that's out the window now.

Oh I want Leinart to start I wanted him to start last week. I'm just saying if Condon hadn't refused to take a slotted contract and Matt had been to camp on time he'd be further along now and quite frankly almost assuredly would have started last week.

At the time the contract stuff was going on a lot of us here said oh well he'll sign eventually, and we don't need to play him this year anyways we have Warner. My take was always Kurt will eventually get hurt, I want Matt signed and in camp.

I think Matt is going to be the best cardinal QB since Lomax.

At least based on pre-season action from Leinart--

Matt seems to look for the 5-7 yarder first, and then if he has time, will look farther down field

Kurt seems to look downfield first, and then for the 5-7 yarder as a last resort

I think Matt will have fewer sacks than Kurt, but throw for a lower percentage. It seems Matt's habit, and I am sure Denny is drilling this into him -- if its not there, throw it away.
