All westbound traffic on I-10 was forced to exit at 35th Avenue. The photos and videos of I-10/43rd Avenue explain why. This is insane.

Leave now. LOL.

Definitely avoid the 10. Indian School after 35th Avenue was pretty dry. Not sure about the rest of your plan, though.

There are massive pumps that keep the freeways clear of water when it rains. If you think about it, it just make sense since most of the freeways are dug into the ground they would need to pump any water out. Something must have happened to stop them from working around 43rd ave. My guess is that it was covered by rocks and debris.

They mentioned it on channel 3 about an hour ago that a guy came by with a shovel to try to clear a drain and then showed one of the stuck cars with a swirl of water (like water going down a drain) right next to the car. I told my mom that the water would be cleared within an hour. You can see that its gone and they are removing the cars and cleaning up the road now.

My guess is that it will be fine by game time.

Thanks for the updates. Me and Shaggy went to the Cards/Seahawks Thursday night game last year and we left my house at 5 (game time was 6:40) and got there at 7:30 and missed the first qtr because of stupid traffic. I live in South Gilbert.

As I type I can hear a neighbor shoveling muck. Thankfully I'm obsessed with drainage and have spent the last couple of years watching how the water flows and making drainage paths. And I'd cleared the drains of debris since the last rain a couple of weeks ago. Our power was out for several hours. (And I've got a fridge full of Hawaiian food for the game tonight.)

Hope everyone is OK. That was a lot of water.

We just needed a plumber?

most of the water on the freeways is gone, but there's a lot of debris/mud still to be cleaned up.

That's amazing. I never would have guessed.

Yeah that was pretty much every park on my way to work this morning, just completely full of water 3-5 feet deep.

Woke up at 3:30. Coming down so hard, my gutters couldn't keep up. Literally a wall of water coming off my roof onto my patio. Unreal.

Jim Cantore is in Tucson reporting for the Weather Channel. Looks like we are in for a lot of rain.
