Beanie till he gets over 1300 yards this year. Then it becomes Mr. Wells.

The Man wants to be called Beanie. Who are we to say, what he should be called. But if I were marketing the team, I would make a beanie hat with a spinning wheel. With Logos on both sides!

But that isnt true. He told Whiz to call him Beanie. But in his conference call he clearly introduced himself as Chris Wells not Beanie Wells not Chris Beanie Wells just Chris Wells.

When Urban and the crew asked him what he wanted to be called or what he preferred. His answer was EITHER name is fine with him.

While he's a rookie his name will be Beanie.

After that we'll see.

I voted for Beanie but that's only based on his telling Whiz he wants to be called that (Personally, I'd rather say Chris).

Where is the "whatever we want to call him" option?

Beanie.

It's what he's gone by and been called most of his life so that's his "name" so to speak.

Nobody calls Bubba Franks "Daniel Franks"

Nobody calls Babe Ruth "George Ruth"

How do you know? And if thats his name why does he introduce himself as Chris Wells and say outright that he has no preferance in a conference call?

How do I know?

Jesus Shane, I know you love to argue but this is getting weak.

His name is Beanie Wells the same as George Ruth's name is "Babe"

Answer my questions then? Why did he introduce himself as Chris Wells on the conference call? Not Chris Beanie Wells Or Beanie Wells? How come when he was asked what he preferred to be called he specifically stated "either name is fine with me" completely refutes what you stated in your original post.

As far as the Babe? You have no freaking clue if anyone called him George back in the day. Fans did, media did obviously. But neither you or anyone else around he knows if his close friends and family referred to him as George. Do you? If you do how do you know that?

Actually, there are are plenty of accounts from historians and biographers that wrote about that stuff back in the day. He was called "Babe."

In all circles? If you say its true I'll believe you if you have read it and know it to be a fact. But I havent.

Regardless Harley still hasent answered the other relevant Questions. Because really the Babe is irrelevant to this.

I know it's a sidetrack, but ...

I can't point to a source, but Babe Ruth was a spectacle in his day and traveled with a bunch of writers. You don't think anyone asked about his somewhat unusual nickname? In all of those interviews no one thought to ask "Hey Babe, where'dja get the name? Does your mom call you "babe?" Does anyone call you "george?"

Me? I'd be amazed if he didn't get those questions all the time.

When you're on a conference call with the team that just drafted you, you're going to try to be as professional as possible. Obviously, anyone in this situation would want to make a good first impression and you would do so by introducing yourself by your legal name and not your nickname. That being said, I'm sticking with Beanie. He told Whiz that Beanie was fine with him and that's what I'm going with. Either way the argument I just stumbled upon is ridiculous, call him whatever you want to call him..

Beanie i guess, when KW asked him what to call him he said 'Beanie'.

If we had drafted English we would have had to call him something else though.
