dun, dun, dun, dun, ASU

dun, dun, dun, dun, ASU

Hopefully Oklahoma hurries up and loses so they don't delay the ASU game.

Here we go.

Penalty on the first play. Starting deep in our territory.

We need to keep this close early.

7-0 SC.

Poor field position and penalties hurting ASU so far.

Quit blaming the refs. The difference in talent between the two teams is immense. ASU is going to have to hope 'SC gets complacent or starts making mistakes in order to win this game.

get a stop here and s core ont he other end and it's on. 21-7 isn't that bad considering how horrid we've been playing. Hopefully that fumble and foruth down conversion can be the start of a turnaround.

If they're down 21-10 at half - I'm content.

okay - this team is MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER than ASU.

Walter - as usual - in a big game looks like nothing special.

Can you spell BLOWOUT...

*sigh*

USC has OWNED ASU in EVERY aspect of the game.

I'm done with this game...time for homework.

I'm done with this game, too. 42-7 at halftime. How disappointing to see ASU come out and play like this after having 2 weeks to prepare.
At least I'll have the rest of the afternoon to get stuff done around the house before the Red Sox-Yankees game comes on.

What a tough loss.

42-7.

Wow.

What's that?

Another half to play?

:bang:

I knew we might struggle on offense. I've made no secret of it on the Cards board that I don't like Walter as an NFL QB because he is not good against a strong rush. But, I'm really disappointed in the defense. They just got rolled and they had been so much better than that in the first few games.

Also, unbelievably, I thought USC was more fired up for this game. Heart of a champion, I guess.

Positives from the game:

Our own Desert Vista product TE Zach Miller with over 100 yards. :raccoon:

USC only scores 3 points in the 2nd half...although I guess it doesnt mean much when they score 42 points in the 1st half...

Scary thing is I think Cal is a better team than USC....ASU gets them on the road in two weeks!

Game observations

- What makes USC so good is not their talent (which is unbelievable), it's their poise and ability to limit mistakes. ASU was able to capitalize on USC's only mistake, however by that point the game was basically over.

- I know how much ASU fans, like other Pac10 school fans love to bash Matt Leinart, but the guy is legit. He makes good reads, looks off DBs, and manages the game very efficiently. He doesn't have the arm of Walter or the athleticism of Rodgers, but the guy is a winner and a leader, the collegiate version of Tom Brady.

- Thankfully I only heard a few minutes of Keith Jackson senile ramblings because I was listening to the UA game on the radio. The guy needs to hang 'em up. On another note, Kris Heavner was finally benched about one year too late. Thank God.

- Going back to the talent thing, how deep is USC? Herschel Dennis could be a solid feature back on 90% of Div. I teams and he is languishing on the bench.

- Zach Miller if he stays healthy is going to be very, very good. What sucks is schools like ASU and UA hopefully get one of these program-changing players every year or two. Schools like USC get a handful of them annually.

- Koetter's first big test this season will be regrouping this team after a heartbreaking loss. UCLA is playing well and then they have Cal on the road, they need to get over this game quickly.

I honestly feel if we had started off well we might have been ok... The game started so terribly for us we needed to make a comeback quick and the calls were bad. I was watching ABC and they were pretty much neutral if not on USC's side more often than not and they kept saying wow that's pass interference and showing the replay over and over... There were about five plays that killed us in the beginning where they showed the play and were trying to figure out where the hell the call was or knew for sure it was a bad call... If we had started 7-7 we wouldn't have been trying to play catch up so much and you would have seen a totally different game than what you saw. I guarantee that USC isn't that much better than us.... Watch the other games USC plays against opponents we've played I bet they won't win by that much more of a margin than we did....

Wow, another embarrasing football team in Arizona. Someday this town will get it together on the grid iron.

Don't get me wrong, I watched the game and had high hopes for ASU, but they just got creamed against a team which played close against just about every team they played this year.
