If this is the best the Cards can play against the 49ers with so much at stake and at home then forget playoffs. They had a gift of a hail mary and could not beat a team that had lost 8 in a row. A 49er team that was emotionally destroyed prior to that game. Their offense had not scored a TD in 11 quarters. The Cards run defense was like 8th grade girls playing football.

I had regained some optimism for this organization after the Ravens and Steelers games. They were not getting blown out and winning a big game against a good AFC team. I was really impressed with the defense especially the run defense. The improvement Whiz had made in this team has been lost. Serious gut check time for the organization but forget the playoffs.

All the teams ahead of us in the WC chase also lost. So we are still in good shape for that. Obviously, our shot at the NFC West is closing, but the Giants, Skins, and Lions really look terrible now.

I'd rather get a good draft pick at this point. We will get smoked in the playoffs...HARD. We don't know how to win. Tough, Stupid and Undisciplined.

The 49ers at home is as easy as it gets. They have NO chance against Seattle, Cleveland or New Orleans. If they play like they did yesterday even St. Louis is doubtful.

Yep 49ers are dreadful. But I'll give SF a little credit though, they did what they had to do in order to have a chance to win this game. Get turnovers, win the field position battle, and keep the score close to allow the Cardinals to beat themselves at crunch time.

That line of thinking would lead one to think that we had "NO chance" against Pittsburgh. But we beat them pretty easily. Same with Detroit and (to a lesser extent) Seattle.

No fears whatsoever! I'm cutting my check for $580 (or whatever that amount was for two seats) and staking my claim to playoff tickets! Keep the faith!

The point I am trying to make is that the team has regressed since Pittsburgh. I had very little confidence in Whiz when hired. I have seen coaches and players come and go with all of them saying they are going to change the Cardinals. The end result has always been the man who went to change the mountain was changed by the mountain. I began to see changes with this team on the field. I was impressed with their run defense. I live in KC Chiefs country and year in and year out the Chiefs never get blown out. I think with some exceptions the Chiefs year in and year out have a stout run defense. In years past the Cards would often lose by 3 touchdowns or more. Frequently being down 3 touchdowns at the end of the first quarter.

I think run defense is almost as much mental effort and motivation as it is talent. The regression I saw in the run defense yesterday is very disappointing. All I want to see the rest of this year is the Cardinals play a stingy run defense. With the playoffs not a realistic possibility a stingy run defense will tell me that the players arent just there to collect a paycheck and have signed on to Whiz's team.
