Pitt was stuck in an airport in South Dakota or some damn place for 12 hours a couple days ago--that's the only real reason I chose Pacific over them. And that Pacific is a pretty good team and has a great chance of knocking off Washington in round 2.

I haven't paid enough attention this year I had no idea about the airport thing nice catch.

Pacific is getting a lot of hype in the Bay Area right now, my boss played baseball there so he's quite happy. I know almost nothing about them.

Washington has a really good team the problem with them is the way they play they give teams chances, they're no Loyola Marymount under Westhead mind you but they take a lot of risks and as a result teams can get a lot of good looks and easy shots if they move the ball, and if they capitalize on turnovers. From what I'm told that's basically how UCLA came from way back to beat them, make the extra pass, and a bunch of easy buckets in transition.

I'd be surprised if they lost to UOP but I am surprised Pitt lost to them so what do I know? I want UW to win largely because I don't want to have to hear how overrated the Pac 10 was this year if they flame out early.

I know Butler had a couple of nice teams in the past few years. And didn't Detroit knock UCLA out in a 12 v. 5 game within the past few years?

no that did NOT happen! No UCLA team has ever lost in a shocking upset. :D

I choose to suppress the memories of games like Detroit, Penn State, Princeton, Tulsa. Man that's a lot of suppressing.

UW up 16-2 already, looks like the 2 early upsets may be motivating the "power" teams to get out to big leads.

Looks like Bogut is having a dominant game, 15 with 2 minutes left in the first half against UTEP.

Pretty impressive player passes the ball like Divac or even "shudder" like Sabonis in his prime. Not as athletic as Sabonis was before all his injuries but definitely more agile than Sabonis was when he got to the NBA. doesn't have Sabonis' range though but he's a very impressive player.

Not even ASU fans can root for the Pac-10 in the tournament--that's just sad.

I hate ASU, but if they were in the tournament, I wouldn't root for them, but I wouldn't root against them.

Am I the only one who still doesn't like Bill Frieder? I really should get over my intense dislike for him.

Yeah. I am. I have no idea why he is still around in Arizona public life. He was ASU's coach for like 3 years and had a huge scandal under his leadership.

He sucks.

Whatever. We have this discussion every year it seems.

I'm not just a casual ASU fan, I'm an ASU grad.

I root for my team and whoever is playing that team from down South. :D

I'm not against the Pac-10 in the tourney, just the Cats. :doi:
