The Charlotte Bobcats have selected Phoenix Suns center Jahidi White in today’s expansion draft. As part of a pre-arranged agreement, Phoenix will convey an undisclosed amount of cash and a future first-round pick owed to the Suns from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland’s pick is lottery protected and will be conveyed to Charlotte (via Phoenix) the first time Cleveland qualifies for the playoffs.

White played in 61 games in his only season with Phoenix in 2003-04 and averaged 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 14.1 minutes. The six-year NBA veteran was acquired from the Washington Wizards on Nov. 5 in exchange for Brevin Knight. White is the first Suns player to be selected in an expansion draft since 1995 when the Vancouver Grizzlies picked guard Trevor Ruffin.

Bad thing is that Jahidi really liked being in Phoenix I think and he seemed like a great person and a hard worker.

If the Bobcats waive him I guess we would pick up for the minimum but Bickerstaff talked like he was a keeper.

The Suns would be prevented from re-acquiring him for a year. I read that somewhere.

I thought I remembered reading that they could get him back, as long as nobody else claimed him off waivers.

Hmm, that could be. I've certainly been wrong about things like that before. It sounds familiar.

I believe the 1 year - might of been, Restricted Free Agents? That they become Unrestricted and original team cannot pick them up for 1 year?
