Good thing this baby is settled. Portis came to the realization he would have lost anyways.

Portis paid him $18k out of $20k, so he must have felt he had a 90% chance of losing and 10% chance of winning.

Ya wanna know whats really amazing about this? Portis earned $13,380,000 last year with the Skins, which means for all intents and purposes to put it into real people #'s, lets say you have a salary of $40,000 last year, that $2000 that Portis skipped out on would equal $6 for the $40,000 salary guy, so basically Portis paid $54 of the $60 he owed, now I dont know about you, but I think if I was gonna pay $54, I'd just pay the $60 and not look like a cheap moron.

ANd he probably will pay a lot more than the $6 in legal fees when all is said and done.

I can understand Ohalete, it's a principle thing this was at least the 3rd time he was asked for his number, and this time they even had Portis' name on a jersey with Ohalete's number at a press conference to announce they'd traded for Portis. That's a pretty clear slap in the face to Ohalete.

Portis it would now appear was just being cheap.

Uh, no. Maybe you should re-read them. They say the exact same thing.

If you only own the rights to something because you are a member of a specific organization, then you can't charge someone for that something if you're no longer a member. That in itself makes the contract meaningless.

Wrong in terms of contract law... but the point is moot... Portis settled.
