Can Columbus Academy make central Ohio 2-0 in the boys basketball state championship games?

Following Westerville North's victory over Massillon Perry in the Division II final Friday night, Academy takes the court at University of Dayton Arena at 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the Division V final against Cleveland Heights Lutheran East. The Vikings are looking for their first state title, while Lutheran East won the Division III championship in 2023 and 2024.

Academy: Guards Anderson Davis (6-5, sr.), Theo Falkenhain (5-10, so.), Caden Ivery (6-5, so.) and Jason Singleton (6-4, jr.); forward/center M.J. Jackson (6-3, sr.)

Lutheran East: Forward T.J. Crumble (6-5, sr.); guards Ocho Davis (5-10, sr.), Ty Harrison (6-0, sr.), Chris Hill (6-0, fr.) and Dylan Zeigler (5-8, sr.)

Columbus Academy vs. Cleveland Heights Lutheran East​


When it comes to postseason history, the edge in this game goes to Lutheran East.

Academy is in its second state final and first since 1981, when it lost 58-44 to Kalida in the Class A championship game. Lutheran East is going for its third straight title and sixth overall while playing in its eighth consecutive state tournament.

Junior guard Jason Singleton leads Academy in scoring, averaging 13.1 points. Senior guard Theo Falkenhain (12.4 points) and sophomore guard Caden Ivery (10.6 points) are close behind.

Junior T.J. Crumble, a 6-foot-8 forward and ESPN top 100 recruit, leads Lutheran East. He entered the state tournament averaging 26 points and 13 rebounds.
