As most expected, the Ohio State basketball team has missed the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

That seemed to be a foregone conclusion after the Buckeyes struggled down the stretch, and most especially after a first-round exit from the Big Ten Tournament at the hands of the Iowa Hawkeyes on Wednesday night. However, things perked up a little bit on Saturday night after several bubble teams lost and there continued to be a lack of so-called "bid-stealers" that made an unexpected championship run in conference tournaments.

In the end, though, Ohio State's resume just wasn't strong enough for too many to quibble about missing out on March Madness this year. OSU finished under .500 in the league, barely finished with a winning record, and had some very bad losses hanging around its neck. And while other teams' body of work was similar, when you are splitting hairs at the back-end of the field, you have only yourself to blame for not taking care of business when it mattered.

Rather than choosing the Buckeyes, the committee went with North Carolina, San Diego State, Texas, and Xavier as the last four in, leaving OSU just outside of the mix as probably one of the first four out.

The Buckeyes will not turn their attention to other postseason tournaments like the NIT and inaugural "College Basketball Crown" tournament," by the folks from Fox Sports. There's always that chance that Ohio State decides not to play in the postseason after missing out on the NCAA Tournament, but we don't think that will happen because the program needs some kind of momentum heading into next season.

When all of the postseason plans become available, we'll bring it to you.
