Apparently the Cards are serious about Skattebo. However, a couple of other teams liked him too.
not gonna happen - not because we don't like him it's just not gonna happen - nothing id like more but we have actual needs everywhere else besides our secondary - and id still go secondary over rb
they'd have to consider scat a generational talent
Could afford to spend a third if they want him bad enough. They could go 4 deep at RB if they think he can run between the tackles. We are talking a day 3 pick most likely for Skattebo. So you are not likely filling a need with a day 3 pick.
Just look at the tape. He has decent game speed.?not a burner, but enough speed to be effectiveHe will go in the third round, we could probably get him with our pick. He hasn't run a 40 yet, I sure would like to see his time.
Also considering Conner is likely winding down...having Bensons backup/partner on the roster adds security to the offense long term.Could afford to spend a third if they want him bad enough. They could go 4 deep at RB if they think he can run between the tackles.
I had that thought almost every time I watched him play on Saturdays. He seeks contact.hes a really good player
I fear his play style will lead to a short career
But that’s like every athlete ever to play a sportHe is a good team player who absolutely hates losing.
He was not a RB I don’t think.??!!The next Steve Pisarkiewicz maybe?
3rd round starters....Well we've gotten to a point where theres no glaring holes (Im assuming we sign White back) and can go BPA. This is probably the best RB draft since the Henry/Fournette/McCaffery draft, if we're really going BPA we're probably going to draft a RB.
I don't care if we get Skattebo in the 3rd or 4th and he's buried on the depth chart for a year, once you get to the 3rd round its mostly practice squad fodder and guys who are mediocre until year 3. I'm confident Skattebo will be good so I won't mind us drafting him, I think he is a James Conner clone.
So my thinking is this; say Conner has two good years left. He and Benson headline, with Skattebo stepping in for injuries, then when Conner leaves we have two studs still on their rookie deal. Plus we get insurance in case Benson sucks or Conner collapses. RB is becoming important again in today's NFL and we use a strong RB draft to secure that position for the foreseeable future.
Day 1 plus starters in the 3rd? There are 2-4 of those most years. In 2022 I think only Kerby Joseph qualified, the rest of the 3rd round was either terrible or always injured their rookie season (lots of love for Myjai Sanders and Cameron Thomas btw). People who expect 3rd rounders to be instant impact players are unrealistic.
For those concerned, that it really isnt a position of need, or that you just dont think Skattebo will be good, there is an upside. I really doubt he makes it to us.
