Boston University scored five unanswered goals in the third period to defeat Ohio State 8-3 in the first round of the NCAA men's hockey tournament Thursday in Toledo.

Boston, a No. 2 seed, advances to face either No. 1 Michigan State or No. 4 Cornell on Saturday, with the winner earning a spot in the Frozen Four.

The Buckeyes, seeded No. 3, finished 24-14-2. Ohio State got two goals from Joe Dunlap and one from Max Montes. Cole Eiserman led BU (22-13-2) with two goals.

It was Ohio State's 11th NCAA Tournament appearance. BU has made the tournament 40 times.
