The OHSAA's expansion from four to seven divisions in basketball this season resulted in the state tournament format changing. The increase from 12 state tournament games to 21 meant one site hosting all of semifinals and title games all at the same location — such as the University of Dayton Arena in recent years or Ohio State before that — was not feasible. Instead, the 14 state semifinal games are played across the state before the finalists head to Dayton for the seven title games in two days.
