With all our center problems the first few weeks.. Why is it that Nathan Hodel could never step up?

Is he just not smart enough for line reads etc... ?
He's been around long enough, that you would think he would be able to learn enough to fill in for an emergency no??

he's really small. he's not a conventional center, he's a long snapper. a lot of times longsnappers double as linebackers also. they're about that size.

Plus, you dont want to get Hodel injured.

That would suck considering most of our points come from our kicking game.

Hodel is exclusively a LS. Cardinals have made it clear that he is only going to play that position. Good LS are hard to find and he ranks as one of the best in the league. Like kickers, you normaly do not see them play another position. If you see a shot from the rear end before a snap, you will see his tiny 250 lb butt next to those 300 lb guy - he would be eaten alive going against a couple of 300 lb plus D-Linemen.
