C'mon guys TrophyClown is a bandwagon tool. There is no sense in argueing with her. The other Steeler fans here have actually been intelligent and willing to listen. I am trying my best not to let it give them all a bad name.

I love the talk that Willie Parker will run all over us. We played the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd running offenses this year (Giants, Falcons, Panthers) and NONE of them gained 100yds. Lets do this already.

You sure about that?

I agree, this is the guy that has me the most worried on your entire team. I really think he is the only reason we could lose this game.

Nate's a very interesting story. An undrafted FA that made the practice squad his first year, but worked his tail off through the season and was on the roster by the end of the first year. He's been a little hit or miss, but he's kept with it and has far outperformed some very high draft picks we spent at the position. He's actually more of a longball threat than Holmes, a better route runner, but Holmes is the guy that picks up the YAC, and draws more attention. Nate is very clutch, and comes in under the radar. It should be interesting.

Here's the much more recent and slightly more important stat line:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/boxscore;_ylt=Au2dpihLaJ9aANPSTRm7B2oisLYF?gid=20090110029

This is just my point about the arguments you (Cards fans in general) present. You can't pick and choose the stuff that you like and disregard the stuff that you don't like. You have to look at the entire population as a whole and consider all of the variables - not just the ones you want to see.

Well, you can - but then your argument would be baseless.

You dont get to take our worst outing against them and count that either. Anyone with a brain would say that the more recent game is more important, but I'll be your huckleberry. Lets average out the two games.

113+75=182/2=91

I wasn't near a TV, what happened when we played you guys last year?

What is it with Cards fans, yinz just choose to focus on the stuff that's supports your hype but disregard everything else.

Yeah, we lost last year. Yeah, yinz beat the Panthers second time around and held them to less than 100 yards. So based on those two games, it's a lock - right?

What is it - the heat? Peyote? The Arizona school system?

Oh man, trying to talk football with some of you people is like being in a bad sci-fi flick. I can just see the silhouettes of a guy and two robots heckling it now.

Beta copy of Gung Ho to pump yourself back up in your love of everything Pittsburg.

Is that why y'all are "blue collar" types because they don't' teach things like remedial math in Pittsburg so y'all just ain't smart enough to get jobs that would make you upper class? .

gung ho part, funny.

the other part . . . completely unnecessary and frankly pretty rude. not pleased with that lil bro. talk smack, but try to keep your composure and retain some class.

no, you're spewing this all over the board and you're just wrong. you have to look at PERTINENT stuff. RECENT stuff. look at the entire season? hell, why don't we look at the last 5 years? why not factor in the suns, dbacks, coyotes, pirates, and penguins? hell, how has the economy affected pittsburgh verses az? PROFESSIONAL COACHES ANALYZE THEIR TEAMS IN 4 GAME INCREMENTS, why is it wrong for us to take the same action? game 4 of this season is relatively meaningless.

Anyway, back to some analysis. Tell me about your D. What types of schemes you guys like to run, coverages, blitz packages, that sort of thing.

IF.........IF your defense.......

Sigh...........you guys are sounding like broken records........we've heard this same crap from Baltimore, Charger fans..........it goes on and on......

Listen, and understand...........we've played against THE second most impressive and physical defense in football in the modern era. That would be the Ravens. With Ngata, Scott, Suggs, Ray Ray and Reed youre gonna get snapped or jolted because they bring the attributes necessary to incorporate a very physical and initimidating brand of defense. We beat these guys 3 times......THREE times.
And theyve got many more playmakers on that unit than the Cardinals. We've faced 7 of the leagues top defenses and out of those 7 we were without top RB Parker.

So while Ben makes errors he's hardly cost this team wins. 12-4 is pretty good with your main guy in the backfield missing almost a 3rd of the season. Theres nothing the Cards are gonna bring that we havent seen or experienced this season. It doesnt get any tougher (to execute offensively) than Baltimore, especially on the road and Ben nicely orchestrated a 92 yrd drive in the closing minutes of that game. In a hostile Ravens environment. How many QB's can say theyve done that against that unit ?

Knock the guy all you want, but he wins..........

Sigh... we heard the same thing from Atlanta fans, then Carolina, then Philly.

From Atl and Carolina we heard how they played in the best division, yada, yada... and from Philly it was the Thanksgiving Day debacle.

Listen, and understand...........Our coaches have seen it before and I don't think old Dick Lebeau will be doing anything that Whis and Grimm haven't seen countless times.

I respect your "D"... but, beating Baltimore has prepared the Steelers to do just that... beat the Ravens.

The Cards are not the Ravens... and Kurt Warner is not Joe Flacco.

You may have a new found respect for us, on both sides of the ball, come Sunday.

Right - and 3 years ago, Steeler fans heard the same story from Hawks fans when they beat whoever they beat in the playoffs (I think the Panthers were one of the teams).

Much like Hawks fans late on Feb 5th 06, I think a lot of Cards fans are in for a huge letdown.

I've witnessed very little, some but very little solid discussion as to why the Cards will win.

Anyway, back to some analysis. Tell me about your D. What types of schemes you guys like to run, coverages, blitz packages, that sort of thing.

Pendergast has our defense playing a much more aggressive style over the post season. We are generally lined up in a 4-3. However, we really only have 2 pure/legit Linebackers in Hayes and Dansby. Berry and Okeafor can act like LB's at times, but for the most part they are pass rushing DE's.
What I like as of late is the steady rotation we have been using on the d-line. You'll see Dockett, Smith, Robinson, Watson, Campbell, Berry, Okeafor and Iwebema rotating in and out on a very steady basis! Dockett and Smith are our playmakers on the line. Robinson & Watson are steady run defenders...

As for our secondary, just know that if Ben has time in the pocket, he will most likely be quite successful. Our two safeties (Wilson and Rolle) are at their best when at the line of scrimmage. When they are dropped back in coverage, bad things usually happen. They both have very poor cover skills, with Rolle being the worst cover FS you've ever seen... :bang:
Our corners are tough (Hood and DRC). DRC is a pure rookie and didn't start 'til, the 6th game of the season. Still, he developed into a virtual shut-down corner! Had 4 picks in the regular season and has 2 more in the post season.
If you see Aaron Francisco in the game at either of the Safety position, lick your chops...
Ralph Brown will come in on nickel and dime pkgs and has played quite well...

Bottom line - when Pendy decides to play it cautious and our defense is in reaction mode versus attack, we tend to get our butts kicked...

If Ben has time is the key. I keep having daymares of Dockett blowing through the line...

You need not worry too muhc about Dockett... Yes, he will make a big play now and then, and once or twice a game, he'll grab a sack. But he is definitely not our most consistent pass rusher... Antonio Smith is much more active and seems to get in the backfield more consistently than Dockett. And as crazy as it seems, the man Ben needs to fear most is actually our SS (Adrian Wilson).

Bertrand Berry is not too bad off the edge, either.

What's the point? You'll dismiss out of hand any sort of thought that the Cards can beat the Steelers. I don't give two rips what your opinion is about the Steelers. You guys all think you'll win and you should. We think we have a chance and we should think that. The rest is BS time killing.

On occasion... yes, Bert can cause some havoc in the backfield... Trouble is, nobody on our d-line is a consistent force...
We need guys like Dansby and Wilson to step in and cause problems at the line. We can't generate much, if any meangingful pressure with just our 4 down linemen... And when Pendy decides to rush 3, well, cover your eyes cuz it gets REAL ugly... :bang:

I've seen an overwhelming amount of "we beat the falcons, panthers and eagles so we're unstoppable" posts and it just makes no sense to me.

There's a lot of skeletons in the closets of your defense and that matchup to our steady offense that manages the game and wins isn't as stout as yinz think IMO.

I think yinz have a chance at winning, but not to the extent that yinz guys are playing it up.

is steady code word for below average because there's not one category your
"steady" offense ranks in the top 16 of the league? You've got your fair share of skeletons in there also. Your QB has more turnovers than touchdowns, your offensive line is pretty poor in pass defense and Willie Parker hasn't played well against anyone but the Chargers and the freaking Browns.

I've got no problems with you thinking our D is suspect but to pump up your own offense as anything other than completely underwhelming is just homerism at it's worst.

Well sure, we played some real teams during the season.

Our offense isn't based on just one facet - it's balanced and gets the job done. Sure it doesn't put up glam numbers like the Cards do, it's more of a working mans offense.

The defense will win the game as long as the offense manages, which it shouldn't have a problem doing.
