you know someone's a bandwaggon Steeler fan when the Cardinals fan knows more than they do.

Excuse me? I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, how does that make me a bandwagon fan.

Sorry I mistook what you said about a QB from 13 years ago when you brought up his name AFTER mentioning David Garrard...it's not like John Harbaugh doesn't coach the Steelers division rival and that was the Steelers last game....my gosh, what an epic error I made.

Uhm, being born and raised there does NOT a diehard make. Sorry, try again.

13 years ago??? I bet you most of the posters on this board can tell you the QB and the backup QB from 13 years ago, and relate sad tales of those years gone by.

I'm sorry, but as DIEHARD fans go, nobody and I mean NOBODY can even TOUCH diehard cards fans. We suffered. We toiled. We DIED with this damn team through the years.

It's nothing special to cheer for a great team...easy to cheer for a good team. It's downright masochistic to cheer for a team like the Cardinals...and we've all done it. You are now experiencing a ton of fans who are suddenly realizing that life isn't all about slaps to the face and gag balls in their mouths...don't even try to get into it with a masochist who has turned the corner, because there is a LOT of payback stored in those poor souls. Payback begins sunday, and the Stillers are the unfortunate victims.

yeah, you might have a point if I hadn't said this about Harbaugh: "you even came "this close" to losing to John freaking Harbaugh if his WR had caught the last pass on the game which bounced off his stomach."

I'm pretty sure the game against the Ravens had no such play at the end of the game. Sorry if I remember your history more than you do bandwaggoness.

You missed (or dodged) the point.

It's one thing to be at the dance even though you're dancing badly, it's another when you're standing outside looking in and complaining about the bad dancing going on inside.

okay Braves fan.

In the 2006 playoffs, the sixth-seeded Steelers got hot and surprisingly won the Super Bowl.

In the 2007 playoffs, the Colts who had lost four out of their last seven game due to their awful running defense, turned everything around once entering the playoffs. Their running defense suddenly started playing great in the playoffs and they unexpectedly won the Super Bowl.

In the 2008 playoffs, the 10-win Giants, who had lost two out of their last three games, suddenly started playing great in the playoffs and shockingly upset the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

This year coming into the playoffs, the Cardinals, who had lost four out of their last six games, were pronounced by many as one of the worst playoff teams and division winners ever. However, after entering the playoffs, the Cardinals are all of a sudden playing like an elite team.

Sounds good to me !

Yeah wow, I've been nothing but nice to every Cards poster in here so I guess I deserve to be called a bandwagoner (just so you know, I was only 13 back in '95 as well, while I watched games with my Dad every weekend...I don't remember every single detail...so sue me).

Whatever though, I know how long I've been rooting for the Steelers, so an opinion of a person I have never, or will never meet means absolutely nothing to me, your attempt at namecalling on the internet merely shows your lack of self confidence.

Uhm, being born and raised there does NOT a diehard make. Sorry, try again. What would you like me to do, recount my whole history of how I became a Steelers fan growing up in the 80's? I bet you guys could care less...so I kept it short.

13 years ago??? I bet you most of the posters on this board can tell you the QB and the backup QB from 13 years ago, and relate sad tales of those years gone by. My apologies that I don't remember everything from when I was 13...I'll try real hard to be just as good as other fans who are sports encyclopedias in the future.

I'm sorry, but as DIEHARD fans go, nobody and I mean NOBODY can even TOUCH diehard cards fans. We suffered. We toiled. We DIED with this damn team through the years. I give Cards fans credit, they have been through a lot and I know this SB is very meaningful to them. I felt the same way when the Penguins won their first Stanley cup in '90 - '91 after years of watching and hearing about the consistent suckiness of the team.

No need to go into a rant about how hard it is to root for a bad team...I understand it can't be easy to deal with year in and year out. I'm glad the Cards are finally seeing some success though, they deserve it. Here's to a good, hard fought game Sunday.

What does history have to do with it ? Different players, coaches etc.

Fact is the Cardinals are playing well NOW

I agree with you, but I was responding to someone who made the the statement that the Cards have an 80% winning margin over the last 21 years or something like that and what was the Steelers winning margin for that period.

Everybody, this guy is the only one keeping the thread going and is simply posting purposefully and single-mindedly to annoy us. Put him on ignore and he'll be gone in a mere second. Good bye, Steeler SChuck.

Self medicating (the ignore feature) might be a good move for you. It's pretty clear that you can't handle the idea of fans from opposing teams playing in your sandbox.

Thanks Stout, probably should have just ignored it, but my girls been up sick all night so that made me extra snippy I think lol. I understand Cards fans are just as pumped up about this game as Steelers fans are, so it's expected that emotions are going to boil over at times I guess.

Just hoping this thread gets back to football conversations and less bashing. As far as I can tell, a lot of fans on here are quite knowledgeable, and that's a refreshing thing after trying to get info from media biased networks (BSPN specifically).

What ??!!! Now thats what i call drummin up stats in desperation to try and prove a point.

What percentage of time do the Cards even MAKE the playoffs since they landed in Phoenix ? Figure that one up......10% ??

Its about time you made the playoffs with the number of top 10 picks youve accrued the last decade. What took you so damn long to get to the party ? :)

that's not what he asked. he asked me to look at our playoff record. i did that. suck it!

no, honestly, it's just the way my brother acts. besides, i have no idea what the possible correlation could possibly be between self-confidence and name-calling.

Eh, I was just tired and in a bad mood, didn't mean to get so snippy over something silly.

and in fairness SteelCityMom, I saw Steel and just assumed it was that asshat who keeps insisting he's not a troll, but clearly is... Steeler Schmuck I think it is. You've been nothing but classy here. my bad on the bandwaggon thing that was more clearly volleyed towards the other dude who's still living in the 70's.

Alright the other thread was locked and I said I would provide this resposne so I will put this up here.

Oz from Ft. Lauderdale writes: Sando, I am having a convo with a steeler fan and you had mentioned that the Eagles defense was playing better then Steelers defense the last 6 games. I have been looking for that post and stats but can't find it. What were the stats you were pointing to?

Mike Sando: I was looking at touchdowns allowed. The Eagles allowed one rushing touchdown and one passing touchdown in their final four regular-season games, plus two touchdowns in their first two playoff games.

The Steelers allowed two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns in their final four games. They have allowed five touchdowns in two playoff games.

That means the Eagles' defense had allowed four touchdowns in six games heading into the NFC Championship Game against the Cardinals. The Steelers have allowed nine touchdowns in their six most recent games.
These are both terrific defenses. The Steelers might have the better defense. But strictly in terms of touchdowns allowed by the defense, the Eagles came out ahead.

Obviously different defenses (and Polamalu scares the hell out of me - as someone who watchs alot of SC football I kow how good he is) but the Eagles were supposed to shut us down after taking it to NY. Didn't happen.

Won't happen here either.

The poster who wanted me to provide stats also laughed when I said Williams is better then FWP (Thats fast Willy Parker I believe) and all I can say is Deangelo Williams had a better season this year then FWP ever has TD wise. Willie might bust one but I expect you guys to be in 2nd and 3rd and long ALOT because there is NO WAY you are going to gouge us with the run at 4 -5 yards a pop.

And that will make Rothlesberger a sitting duck. Wheres the prop bet on over/under Big Ben turnovers? Take the over on that Steeler fan.

and WTF is with this Yinz crap? Are we playing a team from a different country or something. For your own sakes cut that crap out. Makes you sound like a bunch of beer swilling back-country goofballs.

Not that there is anything wrong with that:)

Thanks for getting this back to football. I go away for two days and this thread turns into a behemoth monstrosity debating the term yinz, bandwagon, playoff records, etc... Yeah, that'll determine who wins Sunday. :bang:

The Cards played some teams that were definitely running the ball better than Pittsburgh. However, they ran the ball in a very different manner than Pittsburgh, this year. A message to all of those imbecile analysts out there Pittsburgh is not a power running team this year. We're much closer to Philly's running game than the Falcons and Panthers. Now, the Eagles were running at 4-5 yards a pop. But, they gave up on it when they were down several scores. They only ran the ball 14 times. Why did they get down so far so fast? IMO, it was because they sellout blitz so much. When you're rushing 6-7 guys so much, Warner's going to pick you apart. Fitzgerald will win on just about any man on man coverage, and there's still Boldin, Breaston, and others to worry about. I don't see Pittsburgh selling out like that. I think there will always be at least six guys in coverage.

Of course she does have a point since we never played against a QB named John freaking Harbaugh. The Colts QB from that year was JIM Harbaugh. John Harbaugh is the coach of the Ravens so do ya think that might be why she thought you were talking about them? It makes you look pretty stupid calling someone out when YOU are the one who is wrong. Just sayin' ;)

considering that I said they almost lost to Harbaugh on a last second pass... no. unless the NFL suddenly instituted a 10 point play in the NFL, I'm pretty sure it was impossible for them to lose a game they were leading 23-14 on the last play of the game so I think it would be pretty out of this world to think I was talking about the game against the Ravens.

It makes you look pretty stupid calling someone out when YOU are the one who is wrong. Just sayin' ;)

meh, that QB wasn't even good enough to remember his first name... and y'all still almost lost him! ;) and again, when I say they almost lost on a hail mary pass, yeah, I'd expect her to think of a game where... wait for it... they almost lost on a hail mary pass. and I never called her stupid, but thanks for putting words into my mouth.

Yeah losing Faneca and Haynes, coupled with multiple injuries to the OL, Parker and Mendehall really killed our rushing attack for the regular season. They found a workable solution to this though against the Chargers (not that the Chargers defense is a behemouth or anything, but it was nice to see them get back to basics). Utilizing Russell as the short yardage back has worked wonders as well, he's a perfect fit in that position. Like you said though, the key is to not abandon the run and I don't think the Steelers will. If they didn't abandon it against the Ravens, I can't imagine they would against the Cards.

Lebeau may run a few plays where they blitz 6-7, but they will be disguised much better than when the Eagles blitz. It'll look like they are going to drop back 2 or 3 into coverage, but I expect to see guys like Troy or even a CB rush the line a couple times.
