The league office discourages big changes during the playoffs, preferring media attention focused on the games.
After the Super Bowl, the Cards will undoubtedly announce some cuts, then things will be quiet all of February. In March free agency signings will pick up but I don't think we'll have any huge signings, just second tier things.
February and May and June are the doldrum months.
February isnt a doldrum month, far from it.
Feb. 23-Mar. 1, 2005 is the Scouting Combine, Indianapolis, IN
Also some time in Feb. these things will happen but I cant find the exact dates yet.
1. NFL Europe League's NFL Allocated Player Draft(beginning of month)
2. NFL Europe League training camps open.(end of month)
Dont laugh at the NFLE stuff we are going to have a lot of players over there.
3. Deadline for clubs to designate franchise and transition players.(usually at the end of the month.
And here are the important dates in March:
March 2, 2005 - Veteran free agency signing period begins.
March 2, 2005 - Trading period begins.
March 2, 2005 - Deadline for submission of qualifying offers by clubs to their restricted free agents whose contracts have expired and to whom they desire to retain a right of first refusal/compensation.
March 2, 2005 - Deadline for clubs to submit offer of minimum salary to retain exclusive negotiating rights to their players with fewer than three seasons of free agency credit whose contracts have expired (so-called "exclusive rights" free agents).
Mar. 20-23, 2005 - NFL Annual Meetings, Maui, HI - Where a lot of the deals get worked out.
