The Oklahoma Sooners got off to a slow start in their nonconference Bedlam matchup with Oklahoma State, but once they got going, the Sooners couldn't be stopped.

OU didn't get on the board until a two-run home run from Kasidi Pickering in the third inning cut the Cowgirls lead to one.

Sam Landry allowed two runs in the opening frame and one in the third. She faced a ton of adversity in the fourth inning after loading the bases on a pair of infield singles and a walk. But some slick glove work by Ailana Agbayni at second gave the Sooners the first out of the inning on a beautiful diving play that prevented the Cowgirls from extending their lead. Landry then got a strikeout to record the second out of the inning. She then induced a ground out to get out of the bases loaded, no out jam to end the inning.

The Sooners then took the lead in the fourth inning off of Maya Bland's three run home run. That made it 6-3. Oklahoma tacked on two more in the frame on a single by Ella Parker and a double by Gabbie Garcia.

Landry provided the shutdown inning the Sooners needed in the top of the fifth with three groundouts on just seven pitches.

The Sooners' lineup rewarded her efforts with another big inning in the bottom of the fifth to get the run-rule win. Hannah Coor singled to drive in Agbayani, and Pickering doubled off the top of the wall to drive in Coor and make it 9-3. After Nelly McEnroe-Marinas walked, Parker drove in Pickering for her third hit of the night to make it 10-3. Garcia put the cherry on top of the Bedlam sundae with a single right through the pitching circle to drive in McEnroe-Marinas for the game-winning run.

With the win, the Sooners moved to 35-3 on the season and picked up a big top 25 victory. They knocked Oklahoma State starter Ruby Meylan out of the game in the third inning. Meylan pitched well against the dynamic Sooners lineup at the beginning of the 2024 season when she pitched for Washington.

Batting out of the lead-off spot for the first time this season, Pickering went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, and three RBIs. Parker was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two RBIs. Gabbie Garcia also had a two-hit, two RBI day for the Sooners out of the cleanup spot. Agbayani and Bland also reached base twice.

The three-run home run for Bland in the fourth was just her second home run of the season, and it was a huge one.

Landry finished the night by throwing four innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits and a pair of walks. It wasn't a dominant performance by any means, but she got just enough outs to allow the Sooners' offense time to get going. She moved to 12-2 on the season

It was a huge win for the Sooners as they enter the stretch run of the regular season. It was a historic night for Bedlam softball as Oklahoma and Oklahoma State set a new NCAA Softball regular season single game attendance record with 9.259 fans inside Devon Park.

Now, the Sooners get ready for a big series on the road in Tuscaloosa against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
