It's the National League's turn to pick 1st in the draft, and if the D'backs can lose worse than the Nationals they can pick the kid they are calling the LeBron of baseball

The #1 pick no longer alternates between leagues. Luckily for us, that rule was changed right in time for Arizona to draft Upton in 2005. The Nationals could wind up with the #1 two years in a row the way things are going.

it's possible that we'll end up with the worst record in baseball, but unlikely. We'd have to dump some really good players at the trade deadline to do so. We can all hope that the Nats can't sign strasburg and then we could end up with strasburg or bryce harper if we pick at #2

That was actually my biggest hope. Cause both of those players are gonna be huge for any franchise. I think finishing bottom 2 is gonna be a lot more likely than last. Washington has 10 games on us already and I don't see them getting much better.

That kid who is dropping out of school to turn pro? I don't know.

Lebron you KNEW was going to be able to turn pro, meanwhile what about 15-20 people in the history of all the high school draft picks have gone straight to the majors in baseball (think about that when there are hundreds of high school kids selected EVERY year).

Obviously I haven't seen this what 16 year old(???) play, but he's not 6-7 240, or an unbelievable body for an nba body in high school. This kid from the picture I recall seeing didn't seem that big, maybe he was 6-2 220, but I think he looked skinnier than that.

Maybe he's that good, but buyer beware there are a lot of red flags on him, especially if we start calling him the equivalent of lebron james. Scumbags get high school kids all hyped up by saying they are the next lebron, all 100 of them every year, and they turn out to be nothing or a marginal talent.

We'll see in the next year, but I have a strong feeling whoever has #1 pick next year, won't be picking him. I doubt he passes the year long smell test.

But we can hope I guess.

Position players of this magnitude rarely bust out so this is the kind of player that can change a franchise. You look no further then RF to see what those once in a generation players can do with a little time. I say we tank hard core and trade Doug Davis and Garland to the Nationals :)

Two other reasons this season could be good -

- The development of the forementioned 21 year old (!!!!) and future MVP candidate Justin Upton. You can build a team around him offensively IMO.

- The development of Scherzer as a legit #2 guy that can fit in behind Haren for years to come.

Unfortunately the biggest misfortune of this season (other then the putrid record) is the almost certainty that Webb's career as a D-back is over.
