Honestly, Ed_B and myself are the only two people I can think of that have thought Suggs will last until the #6 spot. We've said it since January and We said it even after Kiper bumped him up to #3 on his value board. Thats when everyone went from feeling strongly about our chances of landing him to "There's a better chance of hell freezing over!" I'm willing to bet anyone a Beer that Suggs will be sitting pretty at 6 waiting for us to take him. Teams picking in the #1-#5 range are blowing a lot of smoke in everyone's direction, hoping that one team will be foolish enough to trade down with them because they were convinced that Suggs would be taken. This way say, Houston trades down to 6, gets extra picks in the draft and still gets the player they wanted all along, Andre Johnson or an OT. This time of year every team is playing the "missinformation game". No one really wants to tip their hand and say which player they REALLY want. Unless whoever at #1 is 100% sure they will select a certain player, like Houston last year with Carr. So, anyone who's intersted, lets make a bet. I'll bet a Beer that Suggs "falls" to us at #6. I'm planning on another trip to AZ next season and the loser will pay the winner then. Any takers???

I'll stand by my statement that anyone that passes on him is crazy. Poor workout:rolleyes: the man (KID) can play football. 20 yrs old......So much time to get better & stronger. It's been my experience athletically that men really peak at ages 26-27 strength wise. I'm still skeptical about him being there at 6. If he is ??? what do you want a cookie:thumbup: What the hell mdsisquo....if he does fall to us at 6 I'll BUY $$$$$$you & ED B, & Devon a pitcher of beer. You gotta come to training camp to collect though:wave:

I'll take that bet. Suggs will be gone by the time we pick at #6. Will you be buying me a beer at the stadium or elsewhere?

I bet someone a beer on here last year and I don't even remember who it was, so I didn't pay!

Maybe it would be best for me not to do anymore betting.

But here's the scenario:

1. Cincy takes Palmer (likely)
2. Detroit takes Rogers (lock)
3. Houston takes Gross or Johnson (likely)
4. Bears take Leftwich or Kennedy
5. Dallas takes a CB
6. We take Suggs

It's entirely possible. If each team before us drafts on "need", we land Suggs.

I'm in Denver, so how 'bout we just bet $5 instead? For the record, I hope I'm asking you for your address at the end of April instead of the otherway around--but I just don't think that'll be the case.

Once again we see the inclination to state something as fact before it is fact.

Sugg's subpar workout performance increases the chances that he might slip down to #6, but by no means does it guarantee it.

"All it takes is one GM (in the top 5) who loves him.

I do think, however, that it will now be less likely that the Cards would consider trading up to get him.

I just do not see Suggs value turning on one workout. You got to view these guys on the entire season. How really fired up can you get in a workout. I think these are interesting in that you find out how big a guy is and maybe something from the interview but I do not change my pick based on a workout unless the guy is undersized or something else is way out of wack.

I think you trade up to get franchise QB's not to get a DE who some think is undersized and who might even drop down. I still do not see him there at number 6 but still would take Leftwich if both were available. You do not see a possible great QB available at #6 very often. You see a good DE almost every year. Wadsworth was suppose to be our answer. We let Rice perhaps the best DE in football walk. We do not seem to be doing very well with our DE selections.

If we draft Suggs I hope he's better than our first pick (Bryant)last year. We all thought Wadsworth was the answer too but he ended up being damaged goods. So far Wendell Bryant hasn't exactly torn up the league with his play, and Suggs doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy either. But if we draft him and he doesn't pan out I'm holding you and ED B accountable. :)

Suggs will be an All-pro! Sit down, and watch a few ASU games.

I have never seen a one man defense, until watching ASU last year! :D

But is he really the guy we need? I'm more intrigued by a cover CB and there's more then one in thjis draft. I think we go CB, QB, & C for the first three picks. One of those QB's is gonna fall and be too good to pass up. Blake & McCown are not the future. But that's just my opinion. We're gonna get some FA DE's yet. Prices haven't hit rock bottom just yet.

Damnit, the more you guys talk about drafting a QB at #6, the more I have to re-post this...

Pay attention, people! We have our QB of the future, and, like it or not, his name is Josh McCown. They said it when we drafted him as the 3rd QB off the board last year, and they said it the day that we signed Blake.

I give you my Kerouac 9's LOCK OF THE DRAFT: We will not draft a QB in the first four rounds. You can take that to the bank. Maybe next year, if McCown looks like the next Gio Carmazzi, but not this year.

True cover corners come around maybe every three years, and their an even more risky prospect thatn first-round QBs (Tommy Knight, anyone? How about that guy from Miami that SF drafted? Anyone remember what ever happened to Quentin Jammer?). Even a great CB is useless without a pass rush.

In my humble opinion - if there was one prospect in the entire draft who best fit the biggest need of the Cardinals, it would be Suggs.

The only other guy to come close might be Newman because we need a second shutdown CB almost as much as we need a pass rusher - in fact, some would say more. (Everything I've heard about Trufant puts him close to or even better than Newman, but I haven't seen him and it's hard to make a judgement solely on hearsay).

What about Lito Sheppard? Those 7 tackles in his rookie season really justified that first-round pick!

I would have to agree with you. If Newman or Trufant are there I would love either of them. I see the Cards going CB, DE, WR in the first three rounds.
