D-I-T-T-OThere;s soime middle ground that's not represented in the poll. I think Edge, with near-average run blocking is probably still a 1,500 yard back. But, when we have such crapass run blocking, he's going to be lucky to be a 1,000 yard back (I think that's about where he'll end up).
If we could just run block a little, his running style would help us...but since we can't run block AT ALL, his patient style of running is a detriment. Not his fault, IMO.
That said, he should shut his mouth about touches. Take 10 runs away from him and give them to Boldin.

yea, Edge does a good job "if" he gets a hole he makes aot out of it. Problem is he only gets 2-3 holes per game.
I still think the Cards need to find more ways to get the ball in his hands more, screens, short dump offs anything. The guy is still a big time weapon(Although Boldin seems to be even better).
Edge gets more than two or threee holes in a game...the problem is the holes close up incredibly fast and some of the holes are more cracks than what we would define as a hole. The problem as I see it is Edge has no real burst anymore. If he were to hit some of those quick closing holes with a quick burst, he could get past the OL/DL chaos and into the LB level. Any RB can make yards when the holes are clearly defined and wide open. The grat backs are the ones who see a seam (not really a hole even) and burst through it into the next level of defense.
I believe Edge was so used to alot more running room in IND and when he got here, the space was smaller (much smaller) then he starting dancing more than running and now it is clear he has no confidence in the run game ability thus he is very tentative to the line of scrimmage. It doesn't take much for holes to close in the NFL and this is one of the things fans harped on Thomas JOnes about so much...the dancing before he got to the line was allowing the holes to slam shut. Once he started running with authority, he began to have success.
As for getting it to Edge more, how can that be possible? he got it 40 times I think against CHI. How many more does he deserve...and by deserve I mean how many more has he earned based on his production? This OL is not capable of running screens, so that isn't even an option.
The true strength of this offense is at QB and WR right now. RB may become a strength at some point but right now, it has proven to be a liability over a 60 minute game. The WR's are the ones that need to get the balls to them right now.
EDGE has LOST his "EDGE." He is just an ordinary running back. Nothing great, what a waist of $30 mil.
BOBCAT
He just seems to dance too much and slow to make a move and I know the O-line sux, that's a given but even when he gets alittle daylight he seems to shake and move when he doesn't have to. He also seems sluggish and there isn't any burst.
Just my observation
Why in DC?We did really well in the first quarter by stretching out the line of scrimmage with far wide outs and runs worked better. As the game wore on, and we got conservative, the distance between wideout to wideout got smaller and smaller and the holes thusly got tighter.
I liked the spread out look of the first few possessions, and Edge had room to run. EVERYTHING tightened up as our playcalling tightened up. We might as well had goalline packages in there, as that is practically how we were looking.
More 4 wide....throw some JJ and Edge in the backfield. Mix this stuff up. I've got a lot of hope on Coach K....and I can't watch this game as I'll be in DC Sunday.
Why in DC?
Leaving the kids with my mom in law and seeing my father in law in DC to hang out and see the sights as an early Bday present. Gone tomorrow through Wednesday. Ahhh, kid free vacation.
Awesome ENJOY!
