What are the opinions on the officiating last night?

I mean, the Johnson catch? The fumble on our TE, (can't remember his name/number), the Green interception in the EZ where he gets pushed out?

Another play that I just turned to my kid and went "Did you see that?", was in the first quarter, where AW started on the left, motioned all the way around to the right and flew in right at the snap. I thought I was watching arena ball or something. Of course, he over shot the running play, but man if the timing works out on that play, he lights up either the QB or RB.

After they blew the INT force out, the very next play the Charers ran in for a TD. On that play Dockett was Hooked & Held VERY bad. The play went right threw the whole Dockett would of been if he wasnt raped.

I usually dont blame Ref's. But last night seemed like they were picking on us pretty bad.

My thoughts also the officials were terrible. NFL network has the head of officials on to discuss certain calls. I wish they would let fans choose what plays he comments on. I would sure like to see why the Interception by Green did not stand.

That int was right in front of me. I wanted to kill that ref. I don't know how you blow that call when the guy is a yard inbounds and lands 2 yards out after being hit. It was a great catch anyway, I didn't think he was going to be able to hold on to the ball.

I think about it like this....if we keep making plays like that we are going to have a good year. They can't blow all the calls, right.

What about the phantom defensive holding call on Gabe? I watched that play over and over and over, and still wonder what the hell the refs were watching. Refs with money on the game, keeping the game close, we definately get screwed by officiating on a regular basis.

my favorite 'what the hell is he thinking' call of the night was when the officials reversed the BJ catch at the end of the first half. Looked perfectly clean on every replay I saw, not the least bit controversial. Yet the replay official (this was not a San Diego challenge, remember) decides it should be reviewed, and the head ref decides it's not a catch? where was the conclusive evidence?

I didn't see it at first but the ball was between BJ's legs. Did it hit the ground? You couldn't tell on the replays they showed. The SD feed of the game must have had a differant angle of the play because the replay on the NFL network didn't have conclusive evidence the ball hit the ground.

I am not so sure about that INT force out thing. It looked to me that Wilson pushed the WR into Green for the pushout. If it was reviewable I think that is how the ref would have called it as well.

Also the BJ no catch thing the ball was clearly out on the replays becuase you can see the ball between his legs on the ground. But that replay didnt show when the ball popped out so there may have been another angle they didnt show on TV that showed when the ball did pop out before or after his knee hit the ground.

That Gabe call, they had to have just called the wrong number or something becuase he was even near the play or even close to holding anyone.

Sometimes I think the refs are officiating Cards games like the NBA. Conspiracy theory?

What happened to the referee anyway? The original guy was hanging out on the sidelines late in the game, while the field judge was wearing the white hat.

Also, there is a severe lack of replays in the stadium. :madarms:

On TV they said the officials were also doing preseason -- and pretending the head guy was out (due to injury or whatever). So the rest were forced to change roles and continue game.

Thanks!

That's a pretty good idea, imo.

The Cardinals lost most of the close calls Sat. Night, but did get the fumble recovery by Gabe Watson upheld, which was a close one either way.

Like most, I thought the Eric Green interception was good and he was forced out. But it's tough to see that in real time. I really think that ought to be reviewable. Yeah, it's a judgement call, but Green definitely comes down in bounds if not "forced out." That is one of the calls that is most often missed by the zebras IMO.

The Cardinals did get a lot of holds, but most were probably justified. The offside on the kickoff, I spotted right away and wondered if they would call. It appeared to be Blackstock, though I could be wrong on that. The offender was at least 2 yards ahead when the ball was kicked.

Ya, I loved how they kept showing the official with the fake injury on the sideline drinking gatorade while the game was going on.. lol

Isn't every call by the refs a judgement call? The call that blows my mind every game I watch is the ref that makes a holding call away from the play that has no outcome on the play.
