Whats your early week 1 assessment of your boys and 49ers after yesterday?

The Seahawks suck. Even my neighbor who is a huge Seahawk fan refuses to watch them this year and didn't watch them yesterday. He hates what they did this offseason.

My dad who is a huge niner fan thought the Niners looked sloppy and not that good but is happy with the win.

Nothing from him yet? Maybe he migrated?

Seattle did not look very good and water is sort of wet.

I think we are going to have to take a loss to them for the good of the team's future, because the Colts and Hags are in a dogfight for Andrew Luck, and we just can't have that guy in our division.

We struggled to beat a team that finished last in the NFL the previous season. I don't think we're going to have to do anything special to "take a loss for the good of the team's future". I think we can lose a game to them on our own merit. Also, despite the blowout, I'm not convinced that INDY will be in the mix for Luck. Houston is legit (IMO) and I think the Colts still have enough talent to win 5 games without Peyton which should take them well out of the running.

the offense is bad right now ... really bad

the ST had a horrible game, but I think that could be in part putting together a lot of guys who don't have much cohesion together ... it's coverage that's the issue and it looked like guys were just undisciplined/uncommunicative out there .... this should improve

Run defense is stout - LBs can get a little lost in coverage and receivers can find soft spots between the LBs & DBs

seattle didn't do a lot of blitz packages or anything really exotic on defense

OL has some issues - a lot of young guys learning to play together and gallery was out of the game

rice also didn't play and may just be coming back for the week 3 matchup ... if then

seattle made some nice halftime adjustments and was able to manufacture some offense .... however, with only 37 yards in the 1st half it pretty much sunk the day

both teams played it very conservatively ... SF tried a lot of screens, bubble passes, etc .... seattle had their only real passing success on slants

neither team looked good, but I think both are capable of keeping games close enough for something flukey to happen

it's full rebuild for seattle and I like a lot of what I see .... they just need the OL to come together and to grab a QB

probably the most discouraging thing about the game was the officiating .... god it was awful, equally and non-discriminatingly awful .... but awful none the less ... come to expect that of a triplette crew

this was a horse collar tackle by leroy hill

SF got flagged for a defenseless receiver hit that I for the life of me cannot fligure out ... i guess you can't leave your feet at all, even if it's completely clean?! ..... then Obo catches an elbow to the head that goes un-noticed and left the game

such is life in the NFL it seems

The little bit I saw I felt sorry for Marshawn Lynch, there was literally no room to run on every play I saw. Nobody is scared of jackson throwing and SF has a pretty good run defense so Lynch was basically picking a defender to run into and burying his head trying to push forward for a yard more.

Washington had a great return that was called back for penalty. The best play of the game for Seattle was the pass to Baldwin which was basically a blown tackle resulting in a long run after the catch. Smith overran the slant and Baldwin was gone.

Seemed like Jackson got comfortable as the game went on so maybe he'll get better.

when they picked up the tempo it helped and they threw a couple good plays in there to try and loosen up the SF defense ..... lynch had a little more room in the 2nd half ... but Jackson still looked awful, even if they did score two TDs

I've been really impressed with Baldwin though

No rap on Harbaugh, but I'm really glad Singletary is gone. There was something about his leadership style that - given enough time - could have transformed the Niners into Monsters of the Midway II. He really scared me.

I think you're alone in this thinking. :)

One of the issues with the Niners, not just Singletary, is that they are in love with size/speed guys. That's why they took Taylor Mays in the second round, and I wouldn't have taken him in the 3rd. Dave Razzano talked about this on twitter, and said they (9ers) won't succeed until they get personnel people that value good football players over great athletes.

From one fan to another, my heart goes out to you. You guys are the Arizona Cardinal 2010 version this year. No true QB makes for a long season. There will be spurts here and there , but I really don't think Jackson is the type of guy to lead a winning franchise. You guys went out and got Whitehurst and that plan seems to have gone sour.
Your a real stand up guy M.O. and welcome here anytime.

We had one of those too.

We had a 5'11" corner trying to tackle Cam and the explaination I heard today on the radio is you can't leave your feet at all.

I heard that the corner even purposefully turned his head so as not to make contact with his helmut.

I heard he was complaining after the game about how is a 5'11" guy supposed to take down a 6'6" guy?

Tough call.
