I am not kidding I get an absurd amount of hate for daring to criticize Monti.

Hence the simp thing. We just tied the worst 3 years in franchise history and the dude is teflon. I can only think it's because here Murray gets like 80% of the blame when it's probably more 40-50%
No way.

K1 is the single greatest reason this team doesn’t have multiple Super Bowl rings.

He has tarnished a great NFL franchises brand.

Who are the 5 best players on the team and who drafted / signed them as FAs?
McBride, Murray, Budda, Conner, Paris. Keim did all but 1 and people hate him.

That's kind of a useless question. You're comparing veteran NFL players to 1st and 2nd year players. 90% of the league will have their 5 best players being in their 3rd year of higher.
Who are the 5 players you like most moving 2-3 years down the road? McBride and Paris are probably the only guys who would be on both lists.
McBride, Paris, Marvin, Williams, Benson/Robinson(I know he didn't show much this injured year).

There's the rub. Backing into the playoffs in 2025 only to be destroyed will be nothing to crow about. Incremental progress, but it won't signify unless we follow it up with continual and progressive playoff appearances.
So you’re already admitting that should the team improve again and make the playoffs next year you again will not be happy…. At least we know.

Budda. McBride. Hell, Zach Allen would be the best defensive player on the roster if he was still here. Kyler was a Keim pick.

Monti's claim to fame being a nickel CB and a top 30 WR who was drafted #4 overall is underwhelming for sure.
What’s the dead cap hit with Keim and now?

He is already better than the Hop version we had in 2022 and after. Plus - much cheaper and huge upside.

We unanimously talked about tanking (turned over a lot of players and didn't add high priced FA's) but looking for you to give me some names of this 2022 talented roster.

I am looking at things with balance/looking at both sides. Your view is always grim reaper.

The board also talked about being stuck in purgatory like we have been since 2016 (save 1 year) vs tearing it down and building it back up the right way for the long term.
I agree with the latter and believe we overperformed with the talent we have for the first time in a long time.
Keep building the roster, keep coaching them up, and add in some impact players. That is not rose colored glasses - that is called a strategy/vision.
Sad attempts to move the goal post. You keep crying I am calling it a talented roster. I said that we lost the talent THAT WAS ON THE ROSTER. That is a huge difference and, yeah, you're not reframing the topic by distorting my point, thanks much.

I agree that we should keep building the roster, coaching them up, and we need to add impact players for sure. Problem is, that last bit hasn't happened nearly often enough or big enough. The very few impact players we have gotten have not been stars, blue chippers, Big Johns, or whatever you want to call them. Monti hasn't done well drafting those. He ain't going to sign them in FA. He has largely eschewed trades. So, where in this strategy/vision are these studs coming from?

I am not. I would love to get back into the playoffs, although another drubbing would suck. What I would hate was for that to be our outlier in a sea of bad seasons. Like the last time we made the playoffs. Getting one ass kicking after squeaking into the playoffs wouldn't be a successful rebuild. Getting said ass kicking, then getting in the next season and making it to the next round, etc, would.

I agree. Also I agree you're not wrong to question MO's drafting. Chris laid out the argument pretty well that he's mid at best.

Looking at your post above, I guess it all comes down to, do you think MO is building the roster in such a way that success is sustainable.

Keim kind of went all in for 2021, and I don't think the 2022 roster was as good as 2021. Plus he butchered the cap in the process.

IMHO, I think MO (in fits and starts if you please) is building a sustainable talent level. Or at least he's trying to.

I don't think it's super hard to go from 4-13 to 8-9. It's harder to go from 8-9 to 11-6. I know you super duper hate it man, but next year is the year MO really earns his money.

100% agree with you. If we regress or fail to take the next step, he should be on the hotseat.

Agreed with all of this. In the 2025 offseason, he needs to restock at certain positions (like on the OL and ILB, if we lose White) and he especially needs to get high impact talent on the defense. If he can't do both, he will have failed. It's do or die for Monti in 2025, because failure there dooms us to the purgatory of merely being "in the hunt" all the time at best.

Murphy like Kirk went to Saguaro and so their track record in terms of culture and personality is well known. Both were great and everything you want in a player. We stiffed both home grown guys. :(

Never heard anything bad about Allen as well.

Well that’s not what he said at all. But you know, making false arguments is fun.
