Man does that paint the picture of an offense that needs the ability to go deep either more often, with more success, or likely both. Essentially defenses play up on our top two pass catchers because there’s no fear of being beaten deep and obviously to play the run.

many rookie WRs struggle to beat nfl press coverage out the gate -- i suspect its why we started seeing MHJ in the slot and on the move more

You know there’s more to gaining separation than just speed, right?

You can physically create separation, you can create separation with speed (yes), you can create separation with route running, you can even create it with subtle body movement.
And push offs...can't forget those

Man, Mitch of all people dropping truth bombs. The Rams are playing chess and we're stuck with Monti playing checkers.

Gee where could he have come up with all that analysis?

I feel there is an overall lack of urgency that comes from having such a low bar for success. It annoys me with Monti. It annoys me with some of the offensive decisions with Petzing. It annoys me with Kyler.

One truth that I still hold is Monti's biggest priority was helping/managing Kyler. If you look at FA and the draft, this has been the overall focus.

Yes, the "doubled our wins from the previous season" is poverty franchise thinking. Winning four games in 2023 was an absolute choice.

It's weird, because it feels like Kyler's 2024 season was worse than 2023, when we walked out so hype. By almost every statistical measure, he was better this year. Are the last five games of 2023 a big enough sample size? 216 YPG, 8:3 TD/INT ratio, 95.8 passer rating, six fumbles tho. We probably had a better offensive line in 2023 than we did last season, though.

yes, but:

with plenty of cap room, he looked at both Guard spots and said "good enough"

I like Will Hernandez, but he is a journeyman guard. Evan Brown? at $2.4mm annual contract, he is the ~48th highest paid guard in the NFL.

This makes sense if Monti is thinking that they will hold things down until one / some of the draft picks emerge --

but Jonathan Gaines and Isiah Adams werent all that good either

a lot of last season sucked because of dobbs/tune - truth is kyler was just under .500 to finish the season last year and KYLER WAS AGAIN JUST UNDER .500 THIS YEAR - so nah

Resources are resources. The Cardinals have invested money and draft picks into multiple WRs, multiple RBs, Multiple TEs, several OL. Including an OT that has been his largest FA signing to play RT. His priority has been protecting Kyler and giving Kyler weapons, at the expense of the defense to this point. Not saying he couldn't have done more on the defensive side, but it started out as the Cardinals most talented side of the ball and has received the majority of the resources.

Now it’s time for the defense to be shown the most attention this offseason and giving the offense one or two upgrades as well. All doable before next season
