..with Brad Pitt believed to play the role of Billy Beane.

This according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

I wonder how this would turn out, I'm not a big reader but for sure my favorite book I've read it 6/7 times.

Can I play Derek Jeter or whoever beating them in the playoffs every year?

If they had ever won anything, I could see this movie being made, maybe.

If they had ever won anything, I could see this movie being made, maybe.

While it's true Oakland never won you have to admit(ok you don't have to but should) that Beane changed the face of baseball with the way he was operating. He was competitive for several years with a much smaller payroll than most of the other teams. he did that by targetting certain types of players at certain ages and being very diligent about going after them at the right age and dumping them at teh right age. It was completely impersonal, not much emotion or gut feeling.

A lot of people hated that aspect of it it seemed robotic and inhuman but it worked. The problem he has now is he was too public about what he was doing, other organizations were already looking at it and now use the same model.

He was a bit too cocky about it too, almost bragging in the book about other teams he reamed in deals.
