Wow, they already had 168 mill committed to the 2019 season, and now that will jump up higher because of this and the Havenstein extension (4yrs ~32 million). They still have the Goff deal to do eventually.

Rams have a huge list of talented players at key and expensive positions coming up in 2019 and 2020. Most are going to be gone.

2018 is their peak talent year. The exodus begins next year, then more in 2020, and with the Goff deal they are going to be tight against the cap for years. Even before these deals (Donald and Havenstein) and all the players coming off over the next couple of seasons they already have 52 million accounted for the 2021 season (and that's likely going to be around 80 million once Donald and Havenstein are added).

They got lucky that their mediocre backup played the game if his life. I just don’t think the Rams are all that good.

I’d rather have a balanced roster with a shot in and out than I would waves of being completely terrible and then really great for two years.

its not about the locker room...its about Los Angeles... right now neither the rams nor the chargers have a solid fan base...if the rams can pull off a SB trip..and maybe a win..it will go a long way towards making them "L.A.'s Team"

if it works it will pay off big time for them....probably a good idea in the mean time for them to try and tie in to the old LA Rams teams to remind the locals they have been there before

its not about the locker room...its about Los Angeles... right now neither the rams nor the chargers have a solid fan base...if the rams can pull off a SB trip..and maybe a win..it will go a long way towards making them "L.A.'s Team"

In 2020 the Rams are listed as having 41 players signed and 103 mil available. That does not count Havenstein or Donald so lets assume 30 mil for those two. That leaves 43 signed and 73 mill available. Not bad. Pretty close to average for the league.

Cards in 2020 have 93 mill available and 42 signed. Assuming they sign DJ for 15 mill/year. That leaves them 43 signed and 78 mil available. Only 5 mil more then the rams. Link for figures below.

The risk the Rams take is injury or decline in play. If some of these guys get injured the Rams probably won't be able to afford high price FA's to come in and will have to reply on the draft.

Yeah you are right. Looking at the Rams roster they have a hand full of big names that people recognize at the top but after that there isn't much.
