That reads a little funny but I think he's not guaranteed for the 24/25 season at all.

So I think they'll be off the hook after this season. At a minimum he'll miss 30 games this year also which I'm not sure how that effects cap numbers in a trade but that's what Miles Bridges got. I don't think there's a chance he sees less than that. A spend thrift owner could look to take him on to save money now due to the suspension plus waiving him after, which makes him an expiring. The $1 million guaranteed or not is a pittance since it should be able to be stretched also, if a team wanted, which would then cost $333k a year for 3 years.

Miles Bridges only got 30 games because he'd already, essentially, been de-facto suspended for all of last season, he should be in prison though.

I think they'll sideline Porter Jr until his case is completely resolved and then slap a long suspension on him.

Given his track record, I doubt he plays in the NBA again.

The interest in Porter by other teams is likely a means to dump unwanted salary otherwise the Rockets could just waive him.

Yeah, looking at it again, Porter is not even guaranteed $1 million next season if he is waived.

From what I understand about the situation is Houston is all in on competing this year as they owe the Thunder their 1st round pick. They're willing to give up a future pick to move KPJ in a salary dump type move for a rotation player who can help them now because they aren't interested in the savings themselves. They gave big contracts to VanVleet and Dillon Brooks to get to the salary floor and compete also. So it's more about trying to recoup for someone at point.

It doesn't make much sense to lose a future pick so they don't convey a top pick now but they also thought Dillon Brooks would help them. They don't have the smartest front office around.

I don't see how this is possible without the Suns giving up pieces they feel are essential to their current run. So basically, this would be giving up on this window for picks that are crap shoots at best? Pass.

Yeah, the Suns don't have any intermediate salaries to make a trade work.

They only have high salaried players or vet minimum type salaried players.

If they don't have their sights set too high, they could probably get a player(s) and perhaps pick(s) in return for a team wanting to clear salary that counts towards the luxury tax.
