That's a better way of saying what I was trying to say. It's like paying Arod $100 million, and then trying to convert him to a pitcher. WTF? If they needed a big burly NT, then they should have signed one instead of Haynesworth. They should NOT have given him the bonus check! They should have worked out some way for both parties to walk away. Dude does not have the skills to be a NT no matter HOW much he's paid. That's like paying anyone of us big jack, and then saying, now that we paid you a lot, you are now a NT. That doesn't mean we will even be remotely equipped to succeed. Even if Haynesworth eventually comes to training camp, and really tries to be a NT, I bet he gets handed his A$$ in games. Either the Redskins make their defense around a $100 million dollar guy's talents, or they are just wasting $100 million, imho.

Except that you're still spewing BS. The team didn't pay him and then tell him to play NT, they told him he'd play NT this year and he said "great, where's my bonus check?" They gave it to him and THEN he decided he didn't want to play.

You're missing my point, he's NOT a NT, whether they are paying him, he took the money whatever. The Redskins are making a mistake in trying to make him a NT, period! I don't know why no one is picking up on that fact. The Redskins are being idiots for trying it!

I don't think anyone here said the Redskins weren't idiots. This thread is about Haynesworth being a selfish jerk, which he is. That the Redskins didn't have the foresight to realize this would happen is their faults, but it doesn't take away at all from the fact that Haynesworth is being a selfish jerk.

As far as I know there is no stipulation in his contract which says he only has to play 4-3 DT. Even if he sucks as a 3-4 NT, he signed the contract agreeing to play football for the Redskins in whatever capacity they want him to. Even if they wanted him to go play kicker or QB, he has to do it or else he's in breach of contract.

You're missing my point, he's NOT a NT,

Says who, you??? I think it's a fair assessment to say that Haslett and Shanahan know much more about football than you and fat Albert. You do know that he was going to be moved around on the line and that Haslett's D attacks form everywhere right?

whether they are paying him, he took the money whatever.

That's just the point!!! They didn't force him to take the money, they said if you want this you're gonna play all over the line and primarily the NT [position. He then said "GREAT!!!!, just pay me and we got a deal". Then he reneged after he was given the money. You aren't gonna win this one.

The Redskins are making a mistake in trying to make him a NT, period! I don't know why no one is picking up on that fact. The Redskins are being idiots for trying it!

Again, why aren't you coaching in the NFL???

The bottom line is that you are the only person I have heard other than moron Dante Hall that is sticking up for him. His teammates and people that know Haynesworth are blaming him and his crap attitude. These people can't all be wrong. If everyone's the @$$hole, you're the @$$hole.

Why are you taking this so personal? It's my opinion he can't play NT. Usually NT are very strong and can hold the point of attack. Haynesworth is all about slipping gaps. I know if I paid someone $100 million, I would use their strengths, not try and make them into something else. Just seems like they are changing course and trying to get personnel to "fit" the system, rather than getting players who naturally fit the system. Anyone watching this years draft could see analysis of 3-4 linemen versus 4-3 linemen. By your reaction, I must have really offended you. Sorry about that. I really don't care if Haynesworth plays or not. I just think they are paying him way too much not to try to utilize his natural talents.

1-Albert does play DT

2-Albert bitched last year about not being used properly

3-Albert is all about Albert

BTW-The Skins fired their coach (Zorn) that ran a 4-3 & brought in a coach that wants a 3-4 so Albert shut the f*@k up!!!!!!!!

Hey gang...no doubt it is very very slow news time but DO WE REALLY CARE about Albert and what he does??? Good luck to the 'skins if they want to get their $21 million USD back and try and dump him.

Way to take a saying that wasn't even remotely close to being pointed at you and trying to look victimized. Now I get why you don't understand any of this. Take care bud.

Doesn't matter.

They are paying him 100 million dollars and some ridiculous amount guaranteed.

He plays where the coach tells him. Stupid idea or not.

Haynesworth can take his money, hold out, pay the fines, and see what happens in court. That is his choice, and that is fine.

Yet, in my opinion that makes Haynesworth selfish, greedy, a liar, and theif.

Not only that Haynesworth is pretty dumb. How can he state that he is a dominant player, but he then goes on to say he cannot play a certain position on the field. Haynesworth is a manipulator. Just a horrible person in general from what I have read, and seen in his actions.

Happy he is not on my team.

Dont forget the malicious stomping of Andre Gurode's eyes a few years back.

:D Maybe I can partly accept because it was a Cowpies player

I don't blame Haynesworth. I would have taken the 21 million myself. He had one free agent opportunity and the dumba** Redskins had to make his selfish a** the richest D player in history. I actually love that Snyder is getting his just desserts. That fool has been trying to buy a ring for the last ten years. Go back to the NYSE and make a few hundred more million.

On a lighter note...Shanahan was a great pick up for the Skins but it is nice to see the last big acquisition of the Snyder era bite them like a mastiff.

I talked to a lawyer friend, and there's another point everyone is missing. They had a deal with Haynesworth already, then by the coaches own words, they call him in and say, we are going to give you a check or let you walk. If you take the check, you do what we say. This lawyer friend of mine says that's an attempt to modify terms of the original agreement. Albert can take the check, because he was owed it anyway, and it doesn't negate what both parties agreed to, to begin with. He thinks it will be hard for the Redskins to get the money back.

It's like if you and I agree you will do a drywall job for me at a certain price and agree to pay you in installments. After the first series of checks, I go to give you your next check, which I owe you anyway, and say, "If you cash this, you are agreeing to also lay a concrete patio for me, too." Now would you not take your check for the drywall job and cash it because I owe it to you anyway? You would probably tell me, hey I am a drywall guy. I don't lay cement!

Jordan probably could have played center or anywhere he wanted too :D

Exactly!!!

Although, I think you mean that he could have handled playing the center position and I would say not a chance. There is no way that Jordan would have accepted a position change to center.

Unless they guarantee the defensive scheme in the contract, that is a poor argument. (also a lawyer here) I would be willing to bet there is language in there that actually deals with this sort of situation.

Don't know about the contract, but I find it believable that he was told certain things when they first got together. If it was really in his contract that he play wherever they say, then why the meeting about playing him in a different position if he cashes the check? Sounds to me like they DIDN'T have a clause in the contract and were hoping he'd not take the check!

Teams always kiss guy's butts they think will have a big impact. Haynesworth may be a jerk, but everyone acts like the team is all innocent here. They knew his back ground. They know his style of play. They are paying him a TON of money. All I am saying is they are grossly misusing him for the amount of money they are paying him. It's like signing Nolan Ryan, then deciding your middle relief sucks, so you want to move him there. Is that really the best use of your highest paid player?

So I guess that would make Jordan just as much of a bitch as Haynesworth. I'm no Lakers fan but when Magic Johnson's team needed him to play center, he did.

No it isn't. It's like he signed a contract to play football for a team. If physically able, he plays, they pay. That simple. He doesn't get to coach the team too.

Not at all, Jordan would not play center...Magic played Center for one game in the finals(he actually played all 5 positions in that game.)...I didn't claim that Haynesworth was a bitch. C'mon, you are a lawyer...just like my pops. Conjecture invades every argument. That is why I had to study logic, in order to keep up with all of the loop holio logic you lawyers utilize.

All that may be true, but is tainted by the fact that last year when they were running a 4-3 and playing Haynesworth to his position of strength, he still wasn't an impact player. I think it's time to accept that Haynesworth, upon signing with the Redskins, decided he was no longer going to give it his all.

Do you think Michael Jordan would have played Center? Do you think Pujols would play catcher? I DON'T.

Niether do I.

But, could Jordan play center effectively in the NBA ?

Could Pujols effectively be a catcher at the MLB level ?

I don't think so.

Haynesworth is more than capable of playing NT, DT, UT, DE in this league. Asking him to play NT is not that big of a stretch.

Plus you name Haynesworth with Jordan and Pujols ? Come on. This guy is NO Reggie White.

The guy ripped off the Redskins who signed an play-for-a-contract, one and done player. No doubt the Redskins are dumb for giving him that contract.

Haynesworth is not listening to his coach, employer, and selling out his teammates tho. There is no doubt about it.

Agreed 100%.

This self-proclaimed God of defensive linemen didn't make big plays last year, and blamed everyone but himself for it. Coaches, coordinators, etc., etc.

He had last year to show his skill and failed. Now he expects people to do what he says based on numbers he has never produced.
