Anyone else excited for Andrew Walter? I've always thought he had a lot of potential and that playing for the Raiders was not good for his career.

Now, not only did he finally get out of Oakland but he winds up in New England. Can't say I'm happy for the Patriots but I think Walter will benefit greatly from working behind Brady and the coaching that QB's get in New England.

This guy seems to be the physical prototype (6'6", 230 lbs.) and put up huge numbers for Arizona St. in college. Don't really know why I have an interest other than I saw him getting killed in Oakland and really empathized with what could have been a better NFL career. Maybe now he'll get a real chance. Even if Brady doesn't go down, being a backup for a year or two in New England and getting a fresh start elsewhere will be good for him.

If a QB who hasn't started since High School can have a pro-bowl type year on that offense, anybody can, including Andrew Walter.

I was thinking something along those lines. He was a guy a lot of Raiders fans were excited about, but the offense struggled during his time there.

Walter throws 60 yards downfield to Moss, who's 5 yards behind the defenders. I can see that happening. A lot. If he gets playing time with the starting unit.

He has played with Moss before, and didn't do that.

He also didn't have Light, Mankins, Koppen, and Kaczur giving him time to find Moss downfield.

Walter may be stuck in mudd while in the pocket and isn't the brightest guy in the world but knocking him for not finding Moss much while in OAK is a bad argument. Tom Brady wouldn't put up numbers behind OAK's line either.

Walter is about what I expected of him when he was drafted--a career NFL back up. Despite his nice numbers at ASU his accuracy was average at best and his in pocket awareness is/was terrible.

But if Matt Cassell can look good after not playing at all in college Walter has to at least have a chance to improve on his career 52.6 passer rating.

not to mention Moss was a shell of himself in Oakland.

Exactly. Koetter feasted on his arm and just had him drop back and throw deep ball after deep ball to Hagan and McDonald. Walter will be a perennial backup which isn't too bad of a gig
