I guess in the 56-0 blowout of UW on Saturday Rey was getting a bit bored because he wasn't getting enough PT. the ST coach had allowed Rey to determine who was on KO coverage and the opening KO they had 9 LB's, FS Taylor Mays, and the kicker!

Later in the game they had pulled Rey and he asked if he could go in on KO coverage again, the ST coach said no. So Rey persuaded a teammate to act like he was going out, then Rey ran out on the field, the other kid ran off and Rey helped on the tackle. The coaches were so mad at him, they stole his helmet and wouldn't give it back.

I know he didn't listen to the coaches but you gotta love a kid that is that competitive.

This guy is awesome, and I would love for him to be a Cardinal. I believe that he will be taken before we pick but I love his passion for the game.

Don't do that to yourself. There is NO WAY that he falls to us. Christmas comes in December, not April.

Gotta really like Rey's attitude toward the game. Someone with the fire he has burning in him would be a huge addition to this team.

He scares me. His behavior speaks of 'roid rage. Or more deep-seated behavioral problems. If I were a GM, I'd do a very thorough background check on Maualuga before drafting him high.

I agree. I also agree that every team should do a thorough background check on each player prior to drafting them.

Skkorp I agree on this one. I was in his corner but I beginning to have some doubts. I think he had some problems earlier in his career so I would check him out real good.

It doesn't do you any good to have exceptional talent if it cannot be channeled.

Rey kind of reminds me of Adrian, a little too intense at times. I would run up the card if he were still on the board when we pick. Since Rey is more than likely going to be picked before us (top 10) I would love to see us look their safety Taylor Mays. Him and Wilson would be fantastic. We should also look at Brian Cushing, yet another USC linebacker but he may be a boderline 1st rounder/2nd round guy.

Well I guess I assumed everyone knew that already but maybe not.

Maualuga ran with gangs when he was younger, got arrested multiple times, had a juvenile rapsheet and was essentially warned by a judge screw up again, you're going to jail.

Family moved him, and he started to clean up his act, got pretty good grades in HS, did well on the SAT. At USC he's had some issues, twice has been involved in fights on/off campus where he beat someone up. Quite honestly if he weren't a USC football star he'd probably have been in a lot more trouble, I think it's pretty clear someone gave him a break.

But he hasn't been in trouble in 2 + years he seems to have figured it out.

But that's one of the reasons a kid I think is a top 5 talent, won't go top 5.

Mentions that Rey lived in Weipahu Hawaii for several years and was involved in the Samoan Kings gang before his family moved to California. If you ever watch Dog the Bounty Hunter, 9 times out of 10 the person they're chasing lives in Weipahu, apparently a pretty bad area.

As for steroids, if you told me one guy on USC's defense was using them and made me guess, I'd actually guess Cushing becaues he's a notorious weight room, workout nut. Is on all the supplements and training stuff, note I'm not saying he does use steroids I have no idea if he does or not, just that he would be the guy I would expect might because of his workout fascination.

I would love to have Rey on the Cardinals but we'll be drafting in the 20's and he's a top 5 pick.

LBs rarely ever go as early as they are projected (see Pat Willis, Dan Connor, Poz, Ray Lewis, etc, etc). I know he is projected as a possiblity on the outside and that changes things a bit, but hopefully we have a shot at him.
