It was a stupid fake no doubt! But in all honesty if Grady doesn't read it & make that play it's a walk in TD. Still dumb & I wouldn't have tried but it was very close to working except for 1 dude blew it up.

the fake field goal has so many dimensions:

is a reserve TE really going to run it in from the 18 yard line? I might be okay with the decision if the ball was pitched to a reserve WR or RB on the FG unit: I could at least imagine that player running the distance to get a TD.

If they were inside the 10 -- a pitch to a TE might make sense.

I could imagine a fake FG that has a pass into the end zone and generally be okay with it

20 secs left on the clock: you can get a first down, get out of bounds and leave time for a throw or two into the endzone .....
