How sick would it be if the roof opened and closed like that?

I do think the vibrating seats is pretty lame. Kinda like the lame sound thermometers at U of P. The novelty would wear off fast.

kinda like sitting in a giant spaceship in AZ :)

This needs more clarification.

What do you have to compare this to? When was the last time you saw a real spaceship? Have you ever seen a spaceship? I haven't so I wouldn't know if our stadium looks like a spaceship.. Lets say there are spaceships.. For all we know they might look like a carrot.. And as for the size of spaceships.. Maybe they are the size of Texas.. And that would mean our stadium isnt giant sized but instead small.. Again I wouldn't have any idea since I have never seen a spaceship..

I do know what a flower is and in relation to the size other flowers.. Therefore I can conclude that sitting in a giant flower would suck..

Um, Space Shuttle, DragonX Capsule, Russian Soyuz. However, that stadium concept doesn't look like any of those.

And, UoP is the big tin shed.

none of those are space ships though. We don't have a space ship on earth (unless there really is one in area 51 or Roswill)

as far as the stadium. I think it looks pretty cool. It's just artistic. And like most artistic building designs, it will get old and people will hate it, then it'll be considered historic and people will love it again (if it can last that long). But I agree on the vibrating seats. Sounds stupid. And expensive when they start breaking

Actually from a design standpoint, that is a beautiful concept for a stadium unless ones idea of a stadium has yet to progress past Lambeau Field :D

Why not? What is the definitive definition of what exactly a spaceship is?

According to answers.com...
A spaceship is any vehicle that can leave the planet and travel in the vacuum of outer space. This can be as simple as a rocket or as complex as an intergalactic ship capable of running on antimatter. Modern spaceships are rocket-powered, but science is working on different types of fuel and propulsion, so you may see different sorts of spaceships in the near future.

Maybe what was meant was a STARship instead?

hm... yeah, you're right. I wonder what I was thinking then. I thought it had a specific design specification in the definition that was nothing we've ever seen or had. Like it had to be capable of taking off and landing or something like that, where all of ours need a specific vehicle (mostly rockets, though now some smaller ones look like they kinda piggyback a high-flying jet and can get out from there) to get them out to space

(ETA: looking back at this post, apparently "specific" is my word of the day. lmao)

The vibrating seats are one of the worst ideas in a long, long time. For instance since New Coke time.

The odd thing about it is that the barn version is way more interesting, even though its put there as a foil. Given the two choices I would take the shed in a heartbeat. Granted I'd pimp it up and it would be the coolest shed in the history of shed-dom, but at least the form has a foundation. The other concept is an ill conceived rip off of... Who knows what. It reminds me of large scale public art, where if you can't make it good, then make it really out of scale large.

Game set match, and Vitruvius just died a little more.

To piggyback on that, my wife is very interested in the vibrating seats.

I for one love it. Reminds me of the bottom of the ship from Independence Day where our boy Randy Quaid fly his fighter into. As a engineer I love the conceptual design and what it would take to build that place. Very KOOL!

Yeah... I think the iris idea is interesting, but it's the thing that would be turned into a "bowl with a hole" once the underwriters got involved and the cost overruns came in.

I loved the shed idea. It'd be awesome to see the roof open and close like that.

Here are the concept sketches for the new Vikings stadium: http://www.vikings.com/media-vault/...um/ca0a3ace-4a19-4d9a-998c-b5fdf30b73c6#start

I looks like someone's been cribbing notes from the Tempe Center for the Arts, but I like it.
