Bills fire Jauron after dismal 3-6 start

NFL.com Wire Reports
The Buffalo Bills have fired coach Dick Jauron, a team source told NFL Network's Jason La Canfora.

Defensive coordinator Fewell Perry is expected to become the Bills' interim head coach, a Bills source told NFL.com's Vic Carucci.

In just short of four seasons with the Bills, Jauron compiled a record of 24-33 (.421 winning percentage). The Bills failed to make the playoffs in each season under Jauron. Buffalo has not made the playoffs since 1999, the longest active streak for a non-expansion team.

On Monday, defensive end Aaron Schobel questioned the Bills' lack of direction with seven games remaining in their season.

"It's embarrassing," said Schobel, the longest-tenured player on the Bills roster, a day after a 41-17 loss at Tennessee dropped Buffalo's record to 3-6. "I mean, we're technically, mathematically still in it, I guess, but it's like what ... are we doing here?"

Speaking within earshot of several Bills officials near the entrance of the locker room, Schobel expressed his frustration, but stopped short in explaining what he thinks the franchise's problems are by saying: "That's about all I can say without saying what I want to say."

Receiver Terrell Owens was also upset following the latest loss during which he had an animated exchange with several coaches on the sideline.

This was inevitable and a long time coming. The most lifeless, disorganized coach in the league by far.

It's amazing that the Buffalo offense is almost as inept as the Browns, yet with far greater talent.

I mean, how do you score so little with Fred Jackson, Lynch, Evans, Owens and Edwards?

As bad a Jauron was with Chicago, I was shocked when he got the gig with Buffalo. Cowher would be a great fit in Buffalo. I'm just not sure he wants to go to a cellar dweller. He could turn that team around in a jiffy & his personality fits that town to a t.

During the offseason we should hire Charlie Weis as OC and Dick Jauron as DC.

My bro wants Marty Schottenheimer.

I think the world of Marty. Regardless of his playoff record, he is one of the great coaches of all time. He would also be a great choice. One has to wonder when his age will slow him down. That being said, the older he is, the more Wilson will like him.

He is 66 year old but would be an excellent choice for the Bills. Give him a 4 year contract. He would build a solid team.
:) That makes him a generation younger than Levy when he retired!

I always liked Marty. A winning % of over .600 and playoff appearances in 13 of 21 seasons. Maybe it's the Cardinals fan in me, but I'll always take a coach who will get you to the playoffs. He also lost to some pretty good teams in the playoffs, including the Super Bowl-bound Broncos three times and the Bills twice. Unfortunately, except for one Broncos win, those teams were busy being the biggest Super Bowl chokers since the Vikings, so it just made Marty look worse.

Anyway, I've never particularly felt Norv Turner was an upgrade, and he's also competed in a significantly weaker AFC West than Marty did with the Chargers. Had they kept Marty, he might have been the next Don Shula--a coach who "couldn't win it all," until he did.

Fitzpatrick named starting QB over Edwards is a surprise to me. Not that Edwards has been anything great but giving up on him this early in his career seems counterproductive. Ol' Harvard's not going to be the future so it seems like a waste to not see what Edwards can do the rest of the year.

I guess the QB decision is already a question mark for the future.
