very good point about Crabtree signing. I think this move is huge for the Jets and puts them as a legit contender now.

What exactly does this trade do for the Browns? They got two role players (if that) and two middle round picks for arguably their only offensive weapon. Too bad we don't play them this season.

Their 'best offensive weapon' needed to start showing up big time. He caught as many passes as I did last week. I can totally understand why they traded him.

:yeahthat:

Edwards was likely part of the problem rather than part of the solution in Cleveland. The Browns will be better without him; but that's not saying much, they might still go 0-fer this season.

Long-term I think it's a brilliant gamble for the jets with little downside (they didn't give up much)...but I don't think Edwards will do much for them this year. Given the chance to hit the reset button in the offseason, though, maybe he's able to reach his potential in a young offense that seems to have everything in place.

JMHO

BTW, I put my money where my mouth is on this one...I dropped Edwards in fantasy and picked up Massiquoi (sp?).

I don't get the Crabtree comment, SF couldn't have traded him the deadline was passed. So it's not like SF signing Crabtree means the Jets can't trade for him so they had to get Edwards?

I tried to get Massiquoi yesterday but he was gone already.

Anybody else think Edwards was sandbagging this year while trying to force a trade?

It'll take a bit but I bet he plays better for the Jets than he did the Browns.

I can count on one finger how many good seasons Edwards has.

Dude has absolutely stunk this year getting outplayed by a 2nd round rookie. Edwards has the most dropped balls over the last 3 year time span out of all WR's even Owens.

Not to mention he is working in a contract year and he is still sandbagging it. Contract year isnt even motivating him.

I say good move for the Browns, they arent going anywhere with Edwards and they werent going to re-sign him so they got what they could get.

May or may not be a good move for the Jets. They gave up 2 of their depth players, and two picks that will be pretty low if they make the playoffs. Plus they dont have to give Edwards a new deal yet if they dont want to, because of the 2010 uncapped year rules Edwards would still be a RFA. We shall see if Edwards gets his head out of his butt, but his head may be to big.

Since the draft day trade this year the Browns have now traded for 5 of the Jets scrubs this season. Jets and Browns have been trade buddies this year.

Jets - 5th overall in 2009 draft, Braylon Edwards
Browns - 17 overall pick in 2009 draft, 5 players, Two 2010 draft picks.

sandbagging

If you watched the last Browns game with Cinn, you know he was sandbagging. Anderson threw Edwards a mildly heated twenty yard pass right to the stomach and Braylon dropped it. Braylon acted like "Whoops, my bad!". I thought Anderson was going to launch all over him. This was definitely the start of the Massaquoi era for the Browns.

Anderson still stares down his receivers.

After the deadline to trade draft picks ended, there could've been two opportunities for the Jets to get Crabtree. They could've traded for him when free agency starts in 2010, or they could draft him in the 2010 draft.

I wouldn't worry too much about Braylon on the Jets. I think he hated playing for the Browns and wanted out. This could be a Randy Moss situation (although Braylon is no Moss).

I put in a waiver request on Massaquoi before this trade, now I'm crazy happy about it

If they're down on Thomas the Cards should make an offer.

Your either high on the waiver list or playing with a bunch of football neophytes. Like Russ I put in a claim on him after Sunday and was denied as he had already been picked up. Now that looks like a coup with Anderson looking for him and Braylon gone.

But I play in a league that is mostly West Coast guys and I woke up this morning and heard Schefter break this and the Crabree signing on Mike and Mike at like 7:30 AM EST.

So I offered Percy Harvin for Edwards (I was rejected as he checked the news :) ) but then I put on a claim on Crabtree and got him as the waiver process is over for the week and it was first come first serve.

I think come FF playoffs Crabtree will be a stud.

ANd I think Edwards will be good for New York this year where he will be focused and wanting to prove the Browns wrong. But long term not what the Jets are looking for as the New York lights are just to bright for an attention ***** like himself.

The funniest thing about this is the Lebron James angle. Just goes to show you if you mess with LBJ in Cleveland, your going to get shipped out of the city :)

No he is #1 on waivers. Our players don't clear waivers, even if claimed by the guy with the first priority until Midnight tonight. Believe me, we have a 14 team league, FA and waiver is cutthroat.

The best RBs on waivers are Michael Bush and Heath Evans. The only starting QBs available are Russel, Anderson, Delhomme, Johnson and Stafford.
