This scumbag cheats while Cody Brown and Washington have to do it the right way. Same as the way the Williams boys up in Minnesota rip off guys like Calais Campbell, Dan Williams and Darnell Dockett. The suspension for PEDs should be a full season.

in my opinion strike 2 should be a lifetime suspension.

This is gonna be good. I distinctly remember a couple posters arguing about whether he was roided out prior to the draft. I am thinking it was Russ Smith and Wally but I could be wrong.

Yes I did. Good memory. I would never toot my own horn. :D

Just to clarify before the draft NFLdraftbible.com reported that both Cushing and Clay Matthews had tested positive for steroids and might drop in the draft. Pete Carroll at the time called the report incorrect and said the site should be held accountable for the false report. Said neither player had ever tested positive at USC and that if they had tested positive every NFL team would have received a letter 3 weeks later(assume they mean at the combine) and since that hadn't happened, the report was false.

Today Pete was on ESPN radio, he said he too hears the NCAA will announce results on the Bush/Mayo mess and Carroll thinks sanctions are unlikely.

ANd he was directly asked about Cushing and THIS time, he declined to answer he said he was not allowed to disclose whether they tested positive at USC or not, it's against policy and he would never comment on any player in that way, even though a year ago he denied Cushing and Mathews had tested positive.

It used to be a 4 game suspension meant it wasn't the first positive test for a player, I don't think that's true anymore but I'm not positive. I think they may have strengthened enforcement so even a first offense could be 4 games.

I also hear that what Cushing tested positive for was probably something used to mask other PED use, the claim is it in itself is not a PED, but is used to mask PED's in drug tests. But since the NFL isn't announcing it and Cushing isn't commenting nobody really knows what he tested positive for.

Carroll is a grade A douche bag, I hope we kick the crap out of that team every time we face them in the year (or possibly 2) that he is the Coach.

So Carroll cooked the tests at USC?

No he said they never tested positive at USC and that the report on that website presumably from the combine was false.

I read something today that said Cushing told the NFL the substance he tested positive is something he's been using for several years, he didn't know it was a banned substance. Generally speaking that means it's because the substance itself isn't a PED, it's used to mask PED use.

Which to me means that either he failed tests at USC, and the results were buried, or the testing at USC was done in a way as to NOT catch anyone.

Correct me if I am wrong but since Carroll is now in the NFL it would be a major issue if he were to talk about other players on different teams, especially when it comes to PED use.

It was the same substance that popped Manny Ramirez. It isn't a masking agent I don't think it is a common substance taken by steroid users after they get done with their steroid cycle to help get their testosterone levels back to normal as well as reverse the effects of shrinkage, if you know what I mean.

Since he was popped in September I am going to assume they caught him during his steroid "off cycle" which would be during the season. If they tested him during OTA's I bet they would have caught the real stuff.

It might be but he said it was against the rules for a college to talk about players he said he never would comment on such a thing, completely forgetting a year ago he'd done just that when denying the reports on Cushing and Mathews.

Yep I just saw that report and if that's what he was taking you're right, not a masking agent but something to restore testosterone levels which go way up during steroid use and then crash.

Some of us didn't want Merriman precisely for that reason. Since he got caught he hasn't been the same player, maybe it's the knee but maybe the PED's were a big part of his ability as a player?

Ok yeah in that respect yes I agree it's pretty likely USC's testing was designed to not catch too many people. The Ting brothers got caught but they were seniors and not great players and only one of them failed a drug test even though both had been using for years.

USC's drug testing, or lack of one, is probably one the reasons their players have had less than stellar NFL careers for the most part. They get subjected to real testing and their level of play falls off. I'm having trouble thinking of one USC player, other than Leinart starting this year :D, that has gone onto a great NFL career. Tatupu got off to a good start but he's faded. Bush, so-so.Mike Williams bust. Dwayne Jarret, no impact. Mauluga, rehab. Patterson has been ok with Philly. I like Terrell Thomas. Lendale White, nothing. Lutui, average.Keith Rivers, meh. Frostee Rucker,. I don't even know where Lawrence Jackson is playing. The list goes on. I'm sure they have had some good players but none jump out at me. Fred Davis had a nice 1st year and Domonique Bird will probably break out this year .
