Mike Williams and Hunter Renfrow were awesome as they have been all year.

They might have the GOAT college WR core. Watson was throwing up 1v1 balls and they were coming down with everything. Renfrow looks like Welker out there running those screen/rub routes to perfection.

Dabo Swinney just gave a shout out to the fans who could not attend the game because the tickets were so expensive. Now that is classy.

The "Bama secondary looked pedestrian against those guys.

Four different guys had over 90 yards. That's unheard of... Tough night for Humphrey. Jonathon Allen also wasn't his usual self.

Foster played great but he's a very good double-a gap rusher. Didn't we have a guy who used to be good at that? *goes to other thread*

Im not impressed by Williams at all.

He doesnt have separation speed downfield, and he doesnt get open other than Go routes. Notice all his catches were circus catches over a defender, because he cant get free for an open catch.

Hes very very very very very Michael Floyd-esque, meaning he will be a ghost until you need a clutch circus catch. We need more consistent guys.

You might be correct & that other Mike Williams was a bust as well lol. 1 year of production is a concern of mine as well.

I'd still take Corey Davis over him all day & everday

Yeah uh he played against the Alabama defense tonight so guys are pretty good.

It's clear from the first page of this thread your not a fan of Williams or Watson considering you were calling them bust and soft 5 minutes into the game. You have an agenda and that's cool, but come on man those two guys were spectacular tonight.

Your the only guy not impressed by Williams.

Haters gonna hate

Nope, im not wrong.

Watson is not a pro style QB.

And Williams makes nothing but highlight reel circus catches because he is unable to get open. Hes not fast enough, quick enough, I dont know what, but if he cant get open in college, then he darn sure cant get open in the NFL.

both are fact. Tell me how im wrong.

Go to the 5:28 mark he's at the bottom of the screen. Williams shows great feet and blows by Averett to draw PI. He's still a little raw but the tools are there.

Dude just stop give props where props are due stop trying to be the smartest guy in the room. Mike Williams unanimously regarded as the best WR in this draft by EVERYONE.

Who says Watson can't be a pro QB. So what he doesn't sit up under center none of these guys do these days. This guy led his team to back to back national championship games not only that he flat out balled on the biggest stage TWICE. He shredded two great Alabama defense with his arm throwing for over 800 yards in two games.

But 5 minutes in your calling them both soft and bust. It's clear you came in with your mind made up

Stop with the hate

Being the #1 WR in a draft does not mean you are a dominate WR. I would say 50% of the #1 WR's taken in the draft have been great but the other have not been worth the pick. Mike Williams is big and strong but if he can't get separation consistently vs college CB's...he is not going to in the NFL. He is a less explosive, slower Dez Bryant.

Watching Williams catching those two 50/50 balls got me to wondering. Why hasn't BA, who has 1 of the best 50/50 ball leaping WRs of our time in Fitz utilized that part of the passing game during his tenure? It just amazes me he hadn't & yet he & Pslmer throws fades to Smokey Brown repeatedly. Crazy & stupid all in one :bang:

I would take Watson 5000 times at 13. Dude is a better version of DAC Prescott. He is a winner. Use to the big stage. And would make us dangerous as hell. He is a baller. He is Wilson and Prescott combined.

Because Fitz isn't that guy anymore. That was why he was moved inside. It's no knock on Fitzgerald he's a lot older and has a lot of miles on him.

Hogwash. Sure he's been "mostly inside", but he's also lining up occasionally on the outside. I guess my point is, even at Fitz's age there's not a chance in hell that Smokey or Nelson can still out jump a 4-5 inch taller #11 or out physical a DB for a 50/50 ball.

Again missed opportunities IMO by BA. The logic of throwing those balls to the small guys makes no sense.

Just one person's perception but Fitz has never been the A Johnson/ J Jones beast the media loves to cover.

Fitz has always been Fitz - a 6-3 "pretty darned fast" receiver who works tirelessly to perfect every aspect of his game. If there's one aspect of his play that stands out, it would have to be his consistency - play to play, game to game, year to year. At present, BA has Fitz running a lot of shorter routes (mostly inside) and when the ball comes his way, Fitz continues to be velcro.

I don't think Fitz has lost any of his speed or mojo. He's just used a little more conservatively. A more reasonable thing to be asking is: Will this next season be the one in which the gas begins to drain from the tank?

Personally I don't think so. Fitz keeps himself in good enough shape to stay productive for at least one (maybe more than a couple) more years.

I think many of the deep balls to JJ and Brown that appear to be 50-50 balls are actually called with the thought that those two have the speed to run right by both underneath and over the top coverage.

I think for whatever reason (defensive scheme, JB not being himself) those guys were not able to consistently get behind the defense so the defenders have been in better position and in turn it looks like the throws are 50-50 balls but really it's the same play calling from 2015.

Also, Carson's arm seemed to get stronger as the year went on so I'm thinking some of those throws earlier in the year might not have had as much mustard on them again causing them to look like 50-50 balls instead of what they were truly intended to be.

Now where it gets dicey for me is when you are throwing the ball into the end zone. It would be nice to line up Fitz outside and use his gifts while throwing those fades up to him instead of the smaller guys, but there a couple of issues with that. #1 being you can't line up a guy inside all game then all of a sudden in the red zone line him up outside. You might as well tell the defense hey you might want to roll coverage over here because we are throwing to Fitz. #2 is Fitz is about as strong and durable as they come at the WR position. In that close you want someone inside that can fight through traffic, catch the ball and hang on to it while taking a big hit out of that slot position
