I just don't get why people are still giving Whiz so much credit for the super bowl and NFC championship years. I think the last few years have shown that those successful seasons were more a product of Kurt Warner (and even Todd Haley to some extent) than anything Whiz brought to the table. I'm not putting BA on any pedestal yet, but I'm glad we made a change.
We give him (some of) the credit because he was our coach. People either look at the SB or the years of suckage after Warner left. But Whis improved us to 8-8 his first year here, which was a drastic improvement, especially given the way we played and after going a Duckjake 5-11 the year before. From 5-11 to 8-8 is drastic improvement.
Whis also gets credit because Warner sucked ass when he got here. There's a reason he wasn't wanted and he came to the lowly Cardinals. He should have been an afterthought, but after subbing for a hurt Leinart, the coaches saw he still had game--and how nobody gives Whis credit for that is beyond me.
Putting Wartner in two-minute at first almost exclusively is genius--tested his release, how fast he could read a defense, how fast he could make reads. After that they knew his mind was right, and he didn't fumble because it was two-minute and quick release, so they could then focus on what to improve in his game, which was the way he held the ball (too long and loosely) etc.
I'm not saying it was all Whisenhunt or all Warner. It was one of those situations that were timed perfectly. They all needed each other. Warner's career would have been over had he not come here and met Ken Whisenhunt.
