I would assume the reason he was released was because he wants to much money, if hte chargers arent willign to give rediculous money to old LT then why would anybody else...Hes going to have to give in and play for a small contract.
I don't think he's going to ask for "rediculous" money. The Chargers cut him for two reasons: 1) they didn't want to pay him $3M next season 2) He's not suitable as a feature back anymore.

LT will go somewhere he's able to be the GL and/or 3rd down guy--that is, somewhere with another RB that's going to be able to take the bulk of the carries.

SD already has their 3rd down back in Sproles, and I don't think the Chargers want him to be "the man." So, they found themselves with two of the same pieces. Kudos to the organization for releasing LT2 early and not holding him hostage through FA and the draft as insurance in case they don't get the guy they want to replace him. No matter what you think of LT as a player today or over his career, he's meant a lot to the Chargers and I think he earned that bit of respect they showed him.

I just saw a clip of his press conference, it was sad. The man gave 9 great years to the organization and you can tell he wanted to stay, but football is a business and loyalty is hard to find these days. He still has something left in the tank, he'll find a job, like most have mentioned HOU is in need of a back after Slaton regressed from his brilliant rookie year.

Are Saints paving path for Tomlinson?

The Super Bowl champion Saints could be creating a vacancy for RB LaDainian Tomlinson by apparently allowing Mike Bell to become a free agent.

By letting Bell walk the Saints might acquiesce to quarterback Drew Brees' wishes to bring in Tomlinson, who was released by the Chargers on Monday

I think Bell would be a nice pickup for a team in need of a RB. Isn't Bush going to be cut as well?
