Haggans was convicted of DUI in Colorado in 2004.

No excuses whatsoever. As far as needing to have kids to respond I have two children. One of them at the age of 19 was stopped on the highway waiting for an accident to clear when a drunk driver plowed into the back of him. He ended up in the hospital with several injuries including head injuries that took a long time to recover from.

I still get upset thinking about how the car looked after the accident. The state trooper told me he never saw someone survive an accident like that.

The guy that did was a repeat offender and ended up going away for a while.

No mercy for Haggans or anyone else so selfish as to endanger others driving drunk.

If I recall correctly, he was racing to the hospital for an emergency with his wife... Not just getting his drunk on. Kind of a different scenario.

His excuse was almost valid. I would do the same but it doesnt make DUI ok.

I still question the inconsistency of the suspensions (and lack thereof)

the league has two classifications - substance abuse and personal conduct ...... if it's alcohol related it will fall into the substance bucket

if you have a prior in the personal conduct bucket it will not count as a prior for substance & vice versa

of course, all of this is subject to the direction of the breeze through the commissioners office at any given moment

I don't think anyone has any idea how the NFL makes those decisions. LOL.
