AZProSports...that was it. Crazy. Like some others, I can't tell you how I ever found that website, but it was a life saver. Not many redbirds in Oregon or Colorado.

Great thread.

I was going to start a new thread posing this question but thought it better as a continuation of this thread.

Question: Under what name is Tango posting?

To me, it's not a question of whether he's posting, but under what name? Dude is a hardcore fan, so he's not not gone awol. Has he?

Without knowing when he got banned, left, whatever... and just going on my recollection of his attitude about matters Cardinal-wise, I say

Kerouac

Anyone else care to take a stab at finding out what name deer boy is post in under?

Truth be told, I miss the dude's anger on the board.

Didn't NEM make it to this site also? I remember, as if it were yesterday, all his complaining about our meager FA acquisitions and comparing them to all the over-the-hill guys that New England was signing. I just don't remember which board that was on, I guess it could have been Bob Chebat's forum. Everyone gave him a hard time (well, actually, he earned that "hard time") although it turned out he was right after all.

Steve

I was with him on that topic. That was about the ONLY topic I was with him on, but still... :D

Brother, you are off by a mile, and no, I'm not Tango. k9 is cerebral (even if he's not always right :) ). Tango was more like....THESMEL. Jake=Matt.

That's just nasty. Tango, besides writing one of the scariest/funniest posts ever, was a die-hard Jake fan but he did talk about more than just Plummer. Also, he never invented his own rating system, which I guess is a point against him now that I think about it.:)

In May of 2002 I moved from that other board (can't remember the name) and made this my new home for all things Cardinals. Now, 10 years later next month, I would like to thank all of you for helping me bleed red despite being states away from my favorite sports team. Things can be frustrating at times, and like anything, this board has both it's high and it's low moments. But, in general, this board has given me an outlet for Cardinal talk that I wouldn't have otherwise (Also tickets for a certain NFC championship game, thanks DeAnna).

In short, thanks to you all.
Yea, but how many times have been "totally out"? :D.

I came over when Skkorp moved it frome th AZpro site as well. I found that site because I was just looking to find info on a daily basis about the Cards. Now this is the first page I go to after logging on everyday. This place is great. I have met some great people and there's usually always something interetsting to chat about. I'm a huge fan of the White Sox and Buckeyes but hardly ever engage in any threads on their fan sites. Which, to me, says alot about the quality of people and posters on this site.

Heck I'm so old I remember having to switch to AOL Cards Corner because Prodigy dropped the Cardinals board because they didn't have enough room to add the expansion teams and the Cards board had the least interest of all the teams. Then AOL abandoned Cards Corner and you could only get to it if you had it bookmarked. Then we went with Bob C and Mr. Skane.

One thing that has changed over the last couple of years is you no longer see a person's first post start with "I thought I was the only Cardinals fan in the world until I found this site!"

Speaking of anniversaries it has now been 15 years since the first Cards Corner get together at Rockin' Rodeo for the 1997 draft party. If I remember correctly besides myself; PDonaldo, Zeno, NazDrew, and JRein were there. Anyone else?

This was before the get together for the Take back the Nest game vs Dallas later in the year.

I joined in 2004, which was after Tango was banned, I believe. He must have made an impression. I just did a search and found over 500 threads alone that mentioned him. Whatever he wrote, he sure left an impression!!

Another crazy thing is to think about HOW we connected back then. Originally, I found the group at the tail end of AOL rivals, thus you could say I connected on a p2 400mhz at dialup speeds of about 3-4 kb/sec. Now it's an i7 920 @4000mhz, 2,000 kb/sec, and I can access with my phone at (whatever it is), much higher than 3-4 k/sec. Kind of funny that while accessing this site I used to never be able to use the phone (dialup), and now I can access this site with my phone.

Yikes! Anyone remember the Usenet groups rec.sport.football.pro and alt.sport.football.pro.phoe-cardinals, then .ariz-cardinals? :)

Of course. Back then, most of us didn't really spend much time on line. We'd download our Newsgroups and mail and read and post off line before our next dial up session. It was too expensive to do all that while still on line. That is, until AOL came out with a flat monthly rate and then many of us dumped our CompuServe or Prodigy accounts and flocked to the Devil. Despite all the Usenet bashing of AOL, it was a great place for sports fans for several years.

I wish I could remember how I found out about this site. I did lurk for like 6 months before I finally registered. Glad I did. I've met some amazing people from this site.

Thanks, Skkorp. Rest in Peace.

Back in the old AOL days, there was some newspaper reporter, can't remember who he was and he would frequent the board. Don't remember this either or exactly what happened but Jeff Gollin and this reporter got in some kind of a pissing contest and that was the end of that. He never came back.
