Different game back then IMHO. You tell me a saftey that played in his era that didn't hit like that. There are a few in the HOF, Ronnie Lott is one for sure. They all hit , as Mike Tyson would say, with bad intentions.

Somehow, I only remember one of them making the cover of SI for potentialy being "too vicious for the NFL" because he kept leading with his helmet.

I was a fan before, but Chuck Cecil made me LOVE football and the Cards. As a FF who was seemingly always in centerfield, I cherished the rare chance to take someone's head off.

I wish I could find a throwback jersey of his because I would buy it in a heartbeat. You need to stop hating Skorp, Cecil played when it was still a man's game. He played because he loved going to war with his guys and wasn't just trying to get a game check. I recall victims who he was fined over saying that his hits were clean, just hard as hell.

Written by some MAMBY PAMBY writer. Ask the poeple who played with him what they thought. This is when the game stared to change (for the worse IMHO). They have changed several rules since then to protect QB'S, defenseless WR'S. He was fined several times on clean hit as well, anybody willing to sacrifice their body like that to play the game they love, IS THE MAN.

I remember when the media was debating if Cecil was too violent for the league. I haven't forgotten what Mike Ditka said about it, "If what Chuck Cecil's doing is wrong, then the game of football is wrong".

If you think thats what I mean't well then I guess there is just no talking to you seriously. I have never rooted for anyone to get hurt at anytime. What I was talking about is the in the grasp rule. The A-dub tackle on Todd Heap. You can't hit a QB High you can't hit a QB low. QB's should have to wear a skirt. I am sure you have said that one yourself. Those are the rules I am talking about. I don't recall anybody ever being seriously hurt by Chuck Cecil except himself. So I guess he was too tough for himself????
