Ya know I was thinking about starting a thread the other day titled; Is this the year" that we make a bold move to get that one player to put us over the top. That player being Shane Ray.
He'd be worth it. I wonder how high the Cards would have to trade up to get him? I'd give this year's #1 and next year's #1 plus this year's 3rd, maybe 2nd if needed. I think Ray is the best player in the draft, now that Cardale Jones decided to stay in school :D.

I would think we need to get into the top 6. I have him rated the third best player in this entire draft, behind Jameis, and Amari Cooper. We'll see how things go after the combine.

I saw a mock the other day that saw us getting:

1-Beasley
2-Peters
3- Owamgabe (UCLA version of Ansah)

and I immediately left the site because I cant have poison like that seeping into my mind. Id faint with happiness if that draft were possible. Its not. No reason to get my excitement up

It's not his pass rushing abilities that anybody would question. The question is can he stop the run at such a low weight. These big athletic tackles will eat him up. IMO

But hes already been doing it for 3 years. Hes solid vs the run.

Obviously NFL players are more talented, but are they grossely bigger or stronger? A college T and an NFL T are still both about 6'6 310.

I wouldn't second guess it. If Vic is there, you don't say "Hmmm, hows he vs the run?". You say "Sweet googily moogily! We got a pass rusher! FINALLY!"

I disagree, I don't think his weight is an issue. His value is his speed. As he bursts off the line and is bending underneath the T, his weight will be a non issue. Ideally the T doesn't even get his hands on Vic.

Look at Luke Kuechly. Arguably the best LB in the NFL. Hes only 240.

I would take Dupree and McKinney (whos an ILB) for sure, so long as Vic wasn't available.

As a University of Louisville fan I detest the University of Kentucky but if Cards are able to draft Bud Dupree I would be very happy. He has decent size 6`4 267 for DE and can play from 3 point stance or upright as a OLB.He has very good quickness,a motor that never quits and is a high character team first player. The guy can play.A perfect fit for the Cards.:)

Now there is my "great googly moogly" minute for me. If Bud Dupree is sitting there at 24 I sprint my ticket to the Commish.

I kinda agree...Gordon or Gurley at RB would make more sense, at that point, IMO.

We most definitely need a RB either draft or free agent. One that is BIG and can take a pounding. Arrington is very good but not big enough to be an every down RB. Many teams now have 2 RB's that alternate. We probably need to draft 2 RB's as we have zip depth. Playoff teams these days not only have a good QB but also a good running game.

with Vic Beasly and Brandon Scherff still available?

I hope the draft plays out like that. He bumped some weaker players up, and several stronger players fell to us.

This draft has an abundance of good RB's.
