Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan, the third overall pick in the 2013 draft, is being suspended for the entire 2015 season for another violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy, league sources told ESPN.

While Jordan did not fail a drug test, per sources, the league determined that one of his test samples was diluted, which in this case counts as a violation. Jordan will not appeal and will accept his one-year punishment, his third suspension within the past year.

To me, it almost sounds like the NFL wants to suspend players and is getting off on the whole idea of being a moral police as if it helps give justification to their institution past the football field. If a guy has a test sample that is diluted, demand another freaking sample instead of waiting and then go "we found it is diluted" and then I can imagine a bunch of guys snickering "we got you"

I just read on the tweeeeeter that he had the oppurtunity to appeal it and choose not to.

I do think the problem is that we don't know what the substance was. If it is weed, I agree. The work substance is so generic, but at least it is not performance enhancing.

What a clown. Would rather do drugs than star in the NFL. Why not? He still collects a check, right? SMH.

The tweeeeeeter also said he forfeits a little over $5 million in salary and signing bonus.

And this is from the link.

The suspension costs Jordan $3,335,418 in signing bonus forfeiture and $2,275,209 in salary for 2015.

Bull... He diluted it for a reason he doesn't deserve another chance

if you are in a substance abuse program and come in with diluted urine, you are doing it to mask the drugs. you don't get accidentally diluted urine, it is done on purpose.

Hogwash!!!

Do the crime, pay the time. The players brought this on themselves with what took place last year & before. It's about time these overpaid spoiled brats get punished for their actions instead of fans & owners bowing at their feet because theyare talented & gifted.

Agree completely. If you are stupid enough to throw a lot of money down the drain to get high then suffer the consequences.

Do we know it wasn't performance enhancing? It was before, that's why some had him pegged as just about the most obvious PE user in that draft.

This says it all. Otherwise, why not do follow-up drug tests.

You can have a diluted test from just drinking too much water.

these guys aint using a $20 test from walgreens............you can drink 20 gallons of water...be pissing crystal geyser...and they can tell that every drop of it passed through your body.

Here is the thing : Jordan was considered clean coming out of college. Ditto for D Wash and Bruce Irvin.

Yet -- a guy like Justin Houston who did test positive hasn't seemed to be an issue

I'm not saying that the guys who test positive turn into all-pros -- I'm saying I'm not sure there is too much predictive value.

Washington had issues too. I remember, because that draft is when I first got to know my scout friend and he was sitting on my porch when he told me that he though Washington would have issues down the road. I didn't press him for details like I would now, but there was something of concern for him to say that.

i guess i would amend my statement to say: issues the public knows about

curious about how many guys drafted in last year's first round tested positive for pot in college?

not an argument for Ray or Gregory --rather I have come to the conclusion that half the guys we think are clean arent, and the NFL knows it

He tested clean yes but he was one of the guys most experts had on a list of guys most likely using PED's. He got bigger too fast for a guy at a major program that had been trying to get him bigger since he arrived.

It was fairly obvious he was doing something ,he just hadn't been caught yet.

Or as they said about Tony Mandarich "many scouts think that S on his chest stands for something other than Superman."

Yea Bruce Irving was considered a HIGH HIGH Risk player. Had multiple problems and many kids as well...

D. Wash was not flagged as far as I know, but if I was in HQ I'd be relooking at his papers and seeing why we missed him smoking, because he prob. didn't start using in the NFL, though it is possible.

I'd meet with D. Wash and ask him when did he start and if it was H.S. or college I'd be revoking at why we missed it...because he had a big blanking problem with weed.

You are completely mistaken. Asking him to take another test defeats the purpose of the 1st unannounced test. It's of no consequence if he can pass the 2nd test since it's alleged he rigged the 1st one.
