DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - Josh McCown is listed as the Miami Dolphins' No. 1 quarterback, for now.

The Dolphins released their first depth chart of the season Monday per NFL policy, putting the seven-year veteran at the top.

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano was quick to point out that the depth chart is ever-changing, and that second-year man John Beck and rookie Chad Henne haven't been ruled to start at quarterback for Miami's preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday night.

"I don't make much of it right now. It's something that we had to produce and put out there so we put it out there," Sparano said. "That depth chart in your hands right now won't be the same this afternoon, never mind tomorrow, so it's going to change every single day."

Rookie left tackle Jake Long, the first overall pick of April's draft, is listed at the No. 1 spot at his position. He is the only rookie currently holding a starting job.

Good for Josh!

But I doubt that he manages to keep that slot nailed down for an entire season.

josh and luke

At the moment, Luke McCown is running the first string in Tampa while Garcia is out. Maybe it's the Florida weather.

Good for Josh.

Just like a lot of journeymen QB's he's landed on a horrible team, bad juju for living long enough to retain the job.

Looking back I'm glad he's gone, however he never did anything but try and win and I will always think he got shafted by Green by being benched when he was winning games, stupid move.

I'm almost willing to make a vbookie bet that Henne is the starter come week 1. Reports have Beck being terrible and why would you go with Josh when you can start Henne on his learning curve. They'll probably end up letting McCown start a couple games and hand the reins over to Henne, though.

Makes sense, as he's the only real vet in camp. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Henne starting by mid-season (and Beck traded by the 2010 season).

You really do get the feeling Beck could be Shaub 2.0 right? :)

Maybe. But more importantly, he's the odd man out. McCown and Henne are the current dolohin regime guys, Beck is a holdover from Cameron.
