Just noticing an odd trend going on in Philly. Does it effect us?

After the Sheppard trade the Eagles hold the most amount of draft picks out of any team with 10 total picks in 2009, and one conditional pick in 2010.

Well they just made another trade to add to that total. They traded WR - Greg Lewis to the Pats, terms not yet released.

So whats up with the stockpiling of picks? Do they really need that many rookies? Why do they need so many draft picks in 09 and 2010? Are they going to try to use the picks for something other then rookies? Do the Cards come into the equation in this stockpiling of picks?

Just sayin?

They did trade a receiver so maybe they're clearing a hole for Q.

The Eagles always seem to do this. They get rid of older players who are past their prime. Then they replace them with a bunch of young players through the draft.

I could see a draft day trade for Q. They could give up 3 draft picks and still have a full draft at 7 picks leftover.

Lets not forget that Mcnabb broke off negotiations with the eagles and stated publicly that he wants to see what kind of weapons the team brings in before he will negotiate.

Well there arent many weapons left in FA as far as I can tell. We know TO wont go there.

IIRC the Jets trade gave them 11 draft picks for 2009. They had 10 when I made my pre-combine mock draft and that's why I thought they were a more than willing trade partner.

I think they have 2 1sts, 1 2nd, 1 3rd, 1 4th, 3 5ths,2 6ths and 1 7th rounder.

Talk about trading Q.
RULE #1
ONLY, talk about trades with AFC teams, because CARDS ARE NOT GOING TO TRADE Q TO A NFC TEAM. You all are absolutely wasting your time on this nonsense.

I've never understood, much less bought into this philosophy, except trading inside the division. You trade them to whoever gives you the best deal. Heck Q will miss a couple of games a year so they could trade him to the Rams and still maybe only play him four times over the next five seasons.

With the focus so much on defense in that division it sure will be tough for Q to stay healthy for a full season.

For instance, the Cards play Eagles in the playoff next year, I would not like that match up, Q could definitely tip the scales in there favor.

Wow – Let me just call you out here real fast.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

Because you are scared of what Q might do on another team doesn’t mean the Cardinals are. They will make the trade based on best value to the team. If that happens to be to a couple NFC contenders then so be it. I don’t see the Cardinals being scared of that at all. The division might be one thing but the conference as a whole?? LMAO

You think they are going to cut off half their market? And how demonstrative you are in that statement.

Speaking in absolutes on this board like you are “in the know” only causes you to come across as foolish. Your opinion is your opinion so state it as such and quit trying to mediate to others what you think is “nonsense”

I happen to think you are entirely wrong.

I happen to think you are entirely correct. Thank you for saving me from having to write all of that.

I think they trade him to where ever they get the best deal. If you are going to go anywhere you are going to have play a team with Q on it at some point. I think to much is made about where you trade a team.

Remember, If they trade Boldin, we add draft picks AND cap relief to add more players.

The team who trades for Boldin has less draft picks, AND has to give him a BIG contract. = less players.

Not trading with SF, St-Louis and Seattle, perfectly understandable... but, out of division... please!!!

By your logic AFC teams would only trade with the NFC and vice-versa.

Why would we trade him to a contender?

You won't trade him to a team that you face twice a year, but... outside of that...

Why worry about sending him to a team, that may or may not play either in-season or in the playoffs?

You can be fairly certain, that if the Cards put Q on the market... and Philly made a great offer... Q is an Eagle.

Why did the Cowboys trade Hershell Walker to the Vikings? Because it was a great deal and they didn't care that another NFC team outside their conference got a good player.

When you are trading, you cannot "play scared" so to speak and be worried about what it does for the other team. if you think they're getting the better end of the deal you shouldn't be considering the move in the first place.

Yeah, based on that logic you really can't trade him anywhere, cause you may face him in the Super Bowl.

Good point, get the best for your team that you can and don't worry about things you can't control. (the performance of the other team)

Why would we trade him to a contender?

It's not optimal , but that is how you extract the best deal for a player of his caliber.

And optimately again, he would help that team take out another strong team (NYG) out of the picture, AGAIN.

We obviously need to strengthen our secondary and rush. And the OL. Hopefully those areas get addressed this offseason, STILL.

Reading the tea leaves...

It walks, talks and quacks like a rebuilding program.

Half their secondary (Dawkins, Sheppard) is gonzo.

McNabb's relationship with the HC is "strained" and his backup (Kevin Kolb) cannot inspire more than tepid confidence in Philly.

They no longer have that dominant physical defensive presence up the middle (at MLB or safety)

Westbrook's durability is always an issue and now his backup (Buchalter) is gone.

If my memory serves me correctly) their two tackles (Thomas and Runyon) are either (a) gone already or (b) on their way out of Philly.

Baskett and D Jackson notwithstanding, they've been thin (or worse) at WR for several years, and it continues to cost them.

QB, DB, MLB, RB, OT, WR. Them's a lot of holes to fill. I think they're retooling.
