QB, DB, MLB, RB, OT, WR. Them's a lot of holes to fill. I think they're retooling.

If so then there would be no reason to trade for Boldin, It would be be better for the Eagles to use all their draft choices to bring in young talent to build on for the future.

Logically, I'd think so; except that the Eagles may figure that - whether or not they add a standout rookie WR or invest a second high pick to land a proven veteran wideout with plenty of tread left - it will still bolster their receiving corps (while helping them hedge their bets with decent receiving options should they decide to keep McNabb).

I suspect all this Boldin talk is mainly Philly print journalists and the guys at WIP610 playing "let's make a deal." I don't think Q is going anywhere.

It walks, talks and quacks like a rebuilding program.

Half their secondary (Dawkins, Sheppard) is gonzo.

McNabb's relationship with the HC is "strained" and his backup (Kevin Kolb) cannot inspire more than tepid confidence in Philly.

They no longer have that dominant physical defensive presence up the middle (at MLB or safety)

Westbrook's durability is always an issue and now his backup (Buchalter) is gone.

If my memory serves me correctly) their two tackles (Thomas and Runyon) are either (a) gone already or (b) on their way out of Philly.

Baskett and D Jackson notwithstanding, they've been thin (or worse) at WR for several years, and it continues to cost them.

QB, DB, MLB, RB, OT, WR. Them's a lot of holes to fill. I think they're retooling.

They do this almost every year.

At DB, by now Sheppard was the 4th corner, hardly much of a loss. Dawkins has lost a step, but should have been brought back and will need to be replaced. Mcnabb will be fine when they add another weapon at WR (Draft/Harrison?). Jon Runyan and William Thomas aren't young, and if they want too much, with the number of picks Philly has they can be replaced. Buckhalter is also very replacable, and they have the picks do as such. Do they have some holes? yes. But they retool like this often and I don't expect a full scale rebuild here.

Why would we trade him to a contender?

What constitutes a contender?

Were we a 'contender' going into 2008? Were the Dolphins or Ravens?

The Eagles have just two winning seasons out of the past four so consider how unpredictable the NFL has gotten before you talk about a contender.

1/4 of their secondary is gonzo. Sheppard wasnt a starter last year and in fact like our very own Green he was in the dog house of #4 CB.

If my memory serves me correctly) their two tackles (Thomas and Runyon) are either (a) gone already or (b) on their way out of Philly.

They signed Stacy Andrews in free agency.
