Got pretty choked up when I read an article about a middle aged couple from Minnesota who drove to Philly to see the NFC Championship game. They got all excited and dressed up for the game---she in a Teddy Bridgewater jersey and pom-poms and he with purple face paint and the Viking horns---but---the abuse they had to endure from the Philly fans who were sitting in their section was horrific---you can just imagine---let's just say every insidious vulgar epithet was thrown at her and him as they tried to huddle together and enjoy the game.

And I thought back to how excited we were when the Cardinals went to Carolina in 2015 and how difficult it was to see our Cardinals get humiliated the way the Vikings were last weekend.

To have to suffer through such a tough game at home is one thing, but to go all that way and get all psyched up and be harassed, spit on, doused with beer and called the worst things imaginable---is so horribly sad.

What has become of our society when people behave like this? What ever happened to good old sportsmanship?

I dunno. It's Philly. What did these people expect? They were walking into the game; this isn't afterward.

Toughen up. This is Trump's America. I hope Iggles fans are even worse to Patriots fans.

Yeah I saw the video! freaking sickening that people act like that today, but in reality it’s all over the place! What about the 100 year old Millie (Vikes fan) & fans carrying a banner that said fudge Millie afterward. The more hate in this world, the closer we get to the second coming of the Lord.

Btw Millie still has the last laugh, she still got free tix to the SB from the Commish

The fan base known for booing Santa Claus, throwing C batteries at other people, and peeing on other people's hats? Say it ain't so.

Come on man, no freaking excuse for anyone to act like that! This isn’t Trumps fault so quit making excuses & blaming Trump for all the hate in the world. The world has been going downhill before he got into office & thats reality.

I have mixed emotions about this. People are mean, yeah.. people should be nice to each other,..sure...
But I dont want cowboys fans in UOP...and I dont care if they paid to be there or not... I want a sea of cardinal red and everyone else is the enemy... pretty sure iggles fans feel the same way about green. would I attack a little old lady over it? Naw... but I would partake in some light smack talk and let her decide how far it goes.

what i damned sure wouldnt do is go into Philly or Oakland wearing a Cards jersey and talk smack to the locals...it just aint smart... thats kinda like going to a black panther rally in a klan robe

Yup. And Minney fans have been plotting their revenge too. There's one proposal for Minney fans to sign up as Uber drivers so they can pick up Philly fans and then drop them off in some random place so they miss the game.
maybe they can book every room within 20 miles of the stadium then have all the cab drivers stay away from the other hotels.

Here is what I don't get.... how do Philly fans get away with that sort of stuff when we so much as STAND in front of a crybaby tourist and get told to behave by S.A.F.E.?
Amen to this.

Anyways, the unfortunate fact of the matter is that you have to be aware of your surroundings and aware of how to not put yourself in these situations... because they're going to happen. I've gone to opposing stadiums in other gear before, and I almost went to Philly this year. Thinking about my safety, I know I probably wouldn't go to Philly for an NFC Championship game at 6:40 PM. That's too much of a day for people to get drunk and angry in the highest stakes game of the year. Unless of course, I was willing to put up with this kind of abuse.

That's not to excuse it, but I'd rather be cursed at and flipped off than in some of the more dangerous one on one experiences I've had at Cardinals games and with Bay Area fans.

This is true too. I'm not going to politely fold my hands while other teams' fans cheer in my face, start chants, or mess with true fans. There's nothing more infuriating than someone in another team's gear asking me to be quiet or sit down, either.

I've seen most of the videos and in most of them the Vikings fans specifically went into those tailgate areas to film the reaction; since Philly fans have that reputation.

Aside from the beer can throwing one they were just fans screaming and no actual physical violence. Heck, there were probably more Philly fans fighting Philly fans than fighting Viking fans.

I got hit with a plastic beer bottle thrown by a Saints fan at the 2010 playoff game in New Orleans. Several Saints fans grabbed the dude, bitch slapped him and dragged him down to security. I was lucky, I guess.

True, but he's now proudly leading the charge to the four corners of the world

Going to an Eagles game wearing the opposition's jersey is about as smart as going to Skid Row at 2am. Just don't do it.
@WisconsinCard and I went to the cardinals game this year wearing our gear and we didn’t have a single problem. We’ve been to multiple stadiums over the years and haven’t ever seen anything like this. We hear some heckling, but nothing to this degree. It’s gotta be embarrassing as an organization and the city to see your fans acting like that to visiting fans.

Strongly disagree.

Why should we we have to accept pugnatius behavior as "normal?" Just because "it's Philly" or because we don't like NE? I thought the reason why we play the games - under a standard set of rules - was so that opposing fans wouldn't have to murder one another. Not everyone on this planet is a towel-snapper. (In nearby northern NJ, I can stroll into our neighborhood ShopRite wearing my Cardinal hat and feel perfectly safe. (The most I'll hear is something like "How's Fitzgerald doing")?

This isn't one of those "lighten up" deals. It's just that, if you're looking for a fight, join the military and fight our enemies/not your fellow FB fans.

In Cincinnati, a younger guy was yelling towards my dad and I every time the bengals did anything “good” and the guys behind us yelled at him to shut up and turn around before they beat his ass lol. It happens if you’re being respectful to everyone around you and actually talk football instead being a drunken idiot.
