It always makes me laugh to see rules like this. Having now been to a few NFL games (as many as me wallet and wife allow me), i have never really seen anything to think there was a problem - reasonable natured banter was the worst i saw - Cards V Seattle or maybe Giants V Skins last year but nothing that thought was over the top. (ok its not like going into Oakland with a Cards shirt on or have ever been to Cards v Cowboys but still...)

Given that every week over here watching football (soccer) the crowd are in a frenzy and almost hateful of every team and more so the fans of each team they play, i find it strange that the NFL seem to think they have a problem.

I can see that they dont want to ever 'have a problem' and things like this are aimed to limit it but all the same is there really a problem.

Re the tickets being scalped etc and allowing visiting fans in....The games i have been to i have had to rely on this to get tickets so for some people its the only way they get to see their own team also (ok not everyone lives 5000 miles from their team but it does happen...although I never had that problem at SDS for some reason ;)

I don't get this, we never have any trouble with the SAFE folks about standing.

That makes me wonder if anybody is exaggerating or minimizing their behavior here. Seriously we stand whenever we want to, never had a problem.

maybe it is that I am 6'5 or that I am very close to the field but every game I get a complaint. Sometimes for standing in general, sometimes because I dont immediatley sit down after the play. I havent been stopped though, id like to see them try

We sit in section 118 and we are in row 17 and 18. We are constantly told to sit down by SAFE. They kicked Bleedingred out last year because he asked to talk to a supervisor about the situation. They told him basically he is arguing with them and that was that. Meanwhile we have the jacka$$ who we call "Pu$$yBoy" across the isle who is a season ticket holder but wears the opposing teams jersey to EVERY game doing nothing but standing up yelling and talking trash to Cards fans. Everytime that it ends up getting to us and we talk smack back, guess who SAFE tells to leave, us! I am not one to play the victim, but SAFE doesnt seem to care what this guy does.

We sit in section 116 and we had no problems with being told to sit down. We aren't standing the whole game, but I would say at least half the game. Maybe it is the luck of the draw of the people who sit around you.

NFL announces new fan code of conduct

NEW YORK - The NFL implemented a new code of fan conduct Tuesday, warning that spectators who misbehave will be ejected from stadiums and barred from coming back.

The policy, first recommended by commissioner Roger Goodell at league meetings in April, is aimed at conduct that the league said "detracts from the gameday experience."

It includes bans on:

• Behavior that is unruly, disruptive, or illegal.

• Drunkenness and signs of alcohol impairment that result in irresponsible behavior.

• Foul or abusive language or obscene gestures.

• Interference with the progress of the game, including throwing objects onto the field.

• Failing to follow instructions of stadium personnel.

• Verbal or physical harassment of fans from the opposing team.

"The in-stadium experience is critically important to the NFL, our clubs and our fans and it will be a major focus this season," Goodell said in a statement. "We are committed to improving the fan experience in every way we can — from the time fans arrive in the parking lot to when they depart the stadium."

The league also left teams the option of adding additional provisions to the code based on local circumstances. It said the guidelines would be contained in mailings to fans and signs posted at stadiums.

SO the NFL regulates unruly players and unruly fans.

Cheating coaches affecting the outcome of games are okay.

I had visiting fan broad tell me to sit down when th eCards were in a crucial 3rd down defensive situation. I told her get a ticket in the handicap section.
What is it w/ AZ sports venues worrying so much about opposing fans???
Both SAFE and the parking lot rent-a-drunks are $6.75/hr Napoleans.

We get the safe guys down once or twice a game. I've heard half a dozen warnings last season in our section along the lines of 'sir, if you keep standing we will have to escort you out'. Honest.

I think the main difference is, the three rows right behind us are all owned by scalpers. A lot of seats a few rows back of that are, too. Some of the otehr teams fans, especially when we are winning, like to gripe to security. The 49ers fans are the worst.

Possibly the most extreme was opening game last year, we had a woman, probably 70+, walk in front of us during the _opening kickoff_ to yell at us to stop standing. We wrote a letter to the Cardinals organization about that one and they did tell us they wouldn't expect people to sit during the _opening kickoff_. (Same woman yelled at us for standing during the warm up drills before the game started when the section was only about 1/4th full). She was pushing past us and other people during that kick off. Crazy. We had a guy from the organization come down to our section last year to talk to us about it... but he came down and started talking to us (explaining why their policies were what they were - in response to our letter), but he was talking to us during our best touch town drive of the game while we were in the red zone. Crazy stuff, A for effort, D for timing.

I don't get this, we never have any trouble with the SAFE folks about standing.

That makes me wonder if anybody is exaggerating or minimizing their behavior here. Seriously we stand whenever we want to, never had a problem.
