The way linebackers are getting paid now days, Willis probably could've gotten more.

He is taking his new money before the CBA and running. Good strategy.

Best player and pure TALENT on my most hated team. You have no idea how much. The stick reminds me of a cow pasture. This is more reason to try and scrape up a contract for D.D. too.:)

Dockett had a total salary of $3.5 million last year. There's no reason that the team couldn't get a very reasonable extension done with Dockett during the season.

Great player, he may be my favorite non Cardinal in the NFL today. Just brings it every play.

That sucks. Best non Cardinal in division bar none.

Would have liked to see him go to the AFC and thats the best compliment I can give him.

How often do we do deals like this with our good players? Keep your core of real stars together even if you have to overpay. Our best defensive player on the team is still sitting there because we cannot reach a deal with him. The longer you wait the more it will cost in my opinion. Even now he sees these big dollar deals being done which has made him even more valuable in his eyes. Extend these guys early when you are comfortable they are going to be a long term solution. Do not wait until they make the pro bowl and are proven stars to everyone.

He's got to feed his family.

I could feed my family extremely well with just $250,000 a year which is what Obama says is rich. Nearly all people are greedy and will get all they can in the final analysis one way or the other. Their are no Mother Theresa's in professional sports.

Can you even wrap your brain around paying Arod $50,000 for each (one) time at bat. He makes more in one game than many of us do in two years. How is that possible? I was a highly skilled combat pilot and flew over N. Vietnam and Laos for two years getting shot at and shot down. This for about $38,000 a year. Arod made more in one time at bat. I of course know Arod possesses special skills which people get highly paid for and people pay to see him. It is part of the free market system which I highly support. I am not mad at these guys and wish I had their skills. On the other hand I would never negotiate on the basis of I want to be the highest paid player in my sport, movie industry or what ever.

Strange but true: At the University of Arkansas students pay $1 (one) dollar to attend an Arkansas football game. At the U. of Texas the student has to pay $65 per game. The Texas student will end up paying $400+ for a season ticket. The Arkansas student will pay around $8. No! Do not make any crude jokes about the quality of the games.

It'll be interesting to see how this extension is designed. According to the 30% rule, a player's compensation cannot increase by more than 30% every season of the deal.

That is such a useless rule, there are so many loop holes to get around it it makes the rule null and void.

The only reason it is brought up so much is because teams like to parrot it to the media as a reason why they aren't spending nearly as much money as the year before. Hint, it was put into the CBA for this exact reason I am told, and it was a genius move because this rule gives the league ammo on why they aren't spending as much, so the NFLPA cant cry collusion during a labor fight. Plus its an easy thing to pull out of your pocket when asked why so and so hasn't been re-signed yet or extended, or an easy thing to tell a player why they cant give them an extension. All so 95% of the league can save money for a looming 2011 lockout.
